Surnames: Costello to Canada
My gg grandfather, William Costello, born Ireland 1831 arrived in Canada sometime in the mid 1800's. If I am finally on the right track I believe he was born in Carraboy, Galway to John Costello and Bridget Maguire. Upon arriving in Canada he settled in Northumberland/Seymour Township in Ontario and became a carriage/wagon maker. He married Jane and/or Phillippa (?). Do you have any info on a William Costello coming to Canada? Thanks!

I notice you are researching Fuereys. I have a Theresa Fuerey marrying a Mathew Nugent in 1904 in Avondale. Also have Byrnes in the family tree. Perhaps we are searching the same people?

The Byrnes in my tree are a John who married a Kathleen Nugent who was born in 1915 in St. John's (I think) and a Byrnes who married a Devereaux who was descended from a Sarah (Sadie) Nugent who was born in 1907.

Hi Allan
I have a Theresa Furey married to Matthew Nugent in my family tree.Do you have a Sarah Bridget Furey married to Thomas Cahill in your family tree? If so then we are researching the same family. There is also another woman on the Nfld Roots web site that is researching that family as well and she has quite a bit.She has information on that Furey family back to 1700s.Her name is Judy but I don't know her last name.I'm also researching the Byrne family from Upper Island Cove starting with Nicholas Byrne b.c.1828 married Bridget Geeliean they had 3 children that I know about so far.Would this be the same Byrne family that you are researching? Contact me at pmbyrne@shaw.ca and maybe we can share information.Take care and good luck with your research.

Have you connected a Costello (Hanora) with a Michael Gushue of Conception Harbour. I have a lot of research done on her family, but do not have anything on the name Gushue. Could there be a link here. Hanora was a sister to Peter and DAniel Costello, born mid 1800's

Nugent, Killegrews, Newfoundland abt 1873

I am looking for the family of James Joseph Nugent born 17 Dec 1873, in Killigrews, the son of William and Elizabeth Mahoney Nugent

Is there any hope of a connection?
