Hello-- as your posting is over 3 years old, I'm checking to see if you are still pursuing this name?
This is my first visit to this site.
I just finished research on this family name, as my G-G-G- Grandmother was a Sheehan and maybe related to Andrew, who married Elizabeth Gorman. (1815 November 1, here in St.John's NL). I have 5 children for Andrew and Elizabeth, but not a John.. Will have to look again?
Let me know if you are still looking for info, as I have info on this family.
Regards

Where to begin? I discovered a few weeks ago that my Great Great Great Grandparents were Thomas Kavanagh and Mary Scheon. This is the record I found.

"1821 January 08--Cavanagh, Thomas of Ross C. Wexford to Ann Sheon of St. John’s Newfoundland; present James Dooling and Edward Sheon; Basilica 1820- 1836, page 14 (not available on line)

I was happy to see that she was a "townie"!

This record is not available on line as the on line marriages start at page 15, but their record at the Provincial Archives (The Rooms) is on page 14. Go figure!

So I set out to find all the birth marriage records for Scheon for that period. The RC records for the Basilica here start at 1802 for baptisms and 1793 for marriages baptisms, so I "assumed" it would not take long. I have found a lot of Scheons/Sheehees/Schean/Shiain etc. Eventually all the spellings have settled on Sheehan. For example Andrew Sheehee married Elizabeth Gorman; but many of their children were baptised Sheehan: Here is their marriage record

Y 1-Nov 1815 St. John's SHEHEE, Andrew n/g GORMAN, Eliz'th n/g Michael Brien WinnefreadShehee--
(the formatting of this record indicates that I found it on-line. I will check to ensure it was a Basilica record)

Note the name Winnifred Sheehee---another clue: Ann -- Edward -- Winnifred

Anyway, I just realized it will take too many words to explain where I am with the Sheehan's, other than to say I was getting ready to "park it" and move on to other relatives names. I have not found the conclusive link I wanted. But only two days ago a friend sent me the link to this site and I noticed your reference to Sheehan. It is the first time I have seen any other posting / enquiry about this name, so I had to reply. I have theories but no ABSOLUTE conclusive link to Ann and the above Andrew; though I think they are related; nor to other Sheehan's that were around at the time. Although I believe Edward was a brother and perhaps others.

Chris, I will send to your e-mail address an excel spreadsheet of what I have put together--good luck understanding my logic. Then we could start a Question and Answer. Hopefully I will have questions that you could answer?. It will take too long to explain here--Hope you use Excel.

I'm OK to use e-mail or this posting site. The advantage to posting on sites like this is that other people may have something to add?? I am involved with another thread on another site and since we moved to e-mail, with that one, I think other people are missing out and may be able to contribute?

It is up to you, as you started this thread over three years ago.

Check your junk folder in your e-mail for my spreadsheet.
