Hi
Not sure if you are still looking - I just started on our family tree and saw this post.

my dad was Frederick John Hunter Evans from St.John`s Newfoundland and his mother was Marion Caldwell. Dad had a sister Shirley who was two years older than him . He was born in July 1928 and Shirley was born in 1926.

Hi , I don't have a tree started, I am just starting to connect the dots . Here is a link to the newfoundland site I use. http://ngb.chebucto.org . you can see your mom and my dad listed in the census for 1945. Marion Evans,( my grandmother) Shirley ( your mom) Frederick (my dad) Andrew Caldwell ( Marion's dad from Ireland) Beatrice Hayward ( Marion's sister) Gerald Hayward ( Beatrice husband) and Gerald their son living on Forest Road in St.John`s. Frederick Evans - Marion`s husband was not listed - Shirley`s dad must have left them by then. Shirley and my dad had another sister Lynn (Denysek) not the same father. Marion moved to Toronto in the 60`s with Lynn.
I don`t know where Frederick Evans (Marion`s husband) went when he left his family. Andrew Caldwell was born march 1872 in Ireland I think and sailed to newfoundland in 1896 and married Carrie . They had 3 kids, Marion, Jean and Beatrice.
My dad Frederick John Hunter Evans married Vera Butler and had 7 kids- I am number 2 of 7 from st.john`s.
do you any idea where Frederick Evans -went when he left newfoundland
Jan

Thank you for the link and Info, I will need some time to go thru that site and find them. as to the location of Fredrick, I do not know as I have not until now been able to find any links to my mothers family. My father and his family I have been able to trace all the way back to England in the 1600's. I do have an envelope found in my mothers records from a Leo Evans and the note inside referred to himself as her uncle (if that helps) with a New York City address. So far I have not been able to find any official records of his presence there. Perhaps Fredrick changed his name ? I will keep looking and if I find a records I will drop you a note.

Hi Donald
I spoke to my brother- another Frederick Evans! and he has asked me to forward on to him our correspondence , he was quite excited as well to get some family information,he had worked on our family tree but had hit a dead end. I have an older sister that may have some other information, I will ask her and let you know. I do know that Frederick 1 did move to the US and had a second family. As a small child I remember that I answered the phone and it was him calling looking for my dad, said he was my grandfather , my dad would not speak to him. It stuck with me because I could not imagine why you would not talk to your dad, long distance phone call to Newfoundland was a big deal back then. So I do know that Frederick 1 did try and contact Frederick 2 in the 60's. Family rift after Frederick 1 and Marion divorced I expect. Divorce was very uncommon in Newfoundland back then.

Donald I believe I am your mothers sister My name was Linda Louise Evans and all the information you and my niece Jan have written leads me to believe I am the last bit of information you might need. I have pictures of your mother and myself and my cousin Gerry son of Beatrice caldwell I would love to have some information about my sister as the last thing I have is a letter she wrote to my mother Marion when your mother left St. John's in 1947. If you think I maybe part of the family you are looking for I would love to hear from you
