Martha Jane GUY was the mother of my gg grandmother Annie Guy, b 1874 in Burgeo, d 13 Dec 1908. Annie married Samuel Harris (1869-1947).

I have a birth year of 1855 and a death of 5 Oct 1942, but I do not have parents or spouse of Martha Jane. I have no idea how I came to have the dates on a note from a relative.

Any help with finding relatives/spouse would be most welcome. All I have is a note "Guy family settled in Burgeo around 1850."

Thanks!

Marcella daughter of John Gallop and his second wife Sarah Evans.
Eustaces from Torbay back to James Eustace and Grace Cox married in 1777.
Gallops back to William Gallop and Mary Kearley in Fortune in the late 1700's
My father Edward son of Thomas Anderson, son of Charles Anderson
Am going to The Eustace Reunion in Ireland this September as we have a DNA match to a living person in Dublin. Will also be meeting my cousin Phil and his wife from Newfoundland
I also go back to a Hickman Connection as Maryanne of 1795 was sister to my William Gallop of 1804
In 1835 William GAllop and Jane nee Samms moved from Fortune to Codroy along with James Young and his wife Elizabeth Gallop and James Moore and Jane Gallop.
There is also the possibility that Henry Martin and his wife Grace Gallop moved to Codroy at a later date.
Be glad to sharre any information. Are you a member of Ancestry? My tree is there but I am self taught on the computer and there are duplicates of some people when I try to correct it I get more copies!
Pat, in Michigan

Do you have any connection to Thomas Anderson (1870)and his brothers John and Henry of Rose Blanche? Thomas is my grandfather Selina my grandmother. They had Maryanne, Rosannah, Netta, Martha Jane, Charles, William Wallace, Clayton Thomas and my father Edward. As far as I know Henry never married and John was married to Frances Clevett
Maryanne was married twice, Burt and Blinkhorn. Roshan married Ward Harris.
Netta married Steve Mac Donald, Wally married here in Michigan to Kathryn Gourley, My dad Edward married Mina Eustace. Martha Jane, Clayton and Charles died young.
The only time I was in Rose Blanche was in 1946.
Mina Patricia Anderson Grant

Lew is my grandfather ... I believe his dad James was actually born in NFLD (listed as England on a Canadian Census) I've been told that Lew & Thomas' grandfather is the one who came from England or Wales to NFLD, and was a lay minister or clergy for C of E... possibly named Thomas, married to a Mary Davies. "Both Mary's husband & father-in-law were clergymen who came from Bath or Bristol"
I have no documentation to prove any of this, just word of mouth from Lew's branch.
Would be interested in collaborating with you on this!

Hello,
This is a start in my search for information. Your dates are consistent with my grandparents Archibald Strickland and Minnie (Farrell) Strickland from Lapierr Bay Newfoundland was wondering if they appear in your research. Other names that appear in my Newfoundland ancestors Anderson, Farrell, Jones, Strickland all from the same area.

Thankyou,
DjStrickland

Hi, I am the grandaughter of Jessie Anderson, b.23 Jun 1900 daughter of John Thomas Anderson and Jemima Gunnery, m.8 Nov 1898 in Burgeo. Jessie was born Jun 1900 and John drowned in Oct. 1900. Jemima then married Hugh Matthews (previously married to Deborah Caines)in 1903. He had 8 children. They had 2 of their own children, Ron and Joyce, as well as Jessie and an adopted daughter Fannie, who was Jemima's niece, daughter of her brother, Tom Gunnery. If this is of interest to you, let me know. I would like more info on the Anderson side if you have any? Thanks, Marilyn

Searching for Information on Robert Anderson and his son John Thomas (?John
Robert) Anderson. John Thomas was my g.grandfather from Burgeo, Newfoundland. He married Jemima Gunnery and they had 1 child, my grandmother, Jessie Anderson (Conrad). She was born the year he died , 1900 off the Grand Banks of Newfoundland. Robert Anderson was married to Elizabeth Stickland daughter of Henry Strickland and Sarah Skeard. It is believed that the original families of Anderson came from Scotland, but I have no documentation or any idea from which part. I have a book "A Souvenir of Burgeo's Come Home Year in 1988" which includes a diary of the area written by Joseph Small in 1925. The history is hard to track as there were no records as far as I can find that date back to the mid 1700-early 1800. Any info would be helpful.

Thanks,

Marilyn Mercer

ROSE/YARN m. 1873 Rose Blanche, Newfoundland

I am trying to find more information on my ancestors, John Rose and Elizabeth Yarn, who married 7 January 1873 in Rose Blanche, Newfoundland at Saint Michael and All Angels Church. They had 6 children: Mary, John, Minney, Bertha, Thomas William, and Martha. According to census records, John was a fisherman in 1875, but by 1900 was a lighthouse keeper.

From what I have been able to find so far, daughters Mary, Bertha and Martha did not marry or have children. Minney married twice, first to Duncan MacAuley, then to Arthur Davis. At some point in her adult life, Minney moved to western Canada (possibly Edmonton). Son John married Annie (surname unknown), while Thomas William married Alice Cox 10 December 1900, also in Rose Blanche, at the same church where his parents were married.

Any information on this family, their ancestors, or descendants would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to confirm that my gg grandfather, Uriah Bond b. 1844, Lapoile, Nfld was the son of Uriah and Sophia Bond of England. The IGI (LDS) contains a record stating this but I would like to confirm it with a birth, baptism or marriage record. I've searched the Grand Banks site but haven't found what I need.

I have Harriet as being born to William and Fanny Strickland 1828/9 on Isla aux Morts and baptised by Edward Wix Oct. 1830 at Deadman's Bay, Grand Island.
Interestingly there are 2 Stricklands on the 1900 USA census of Lummi Island, Washington. Both were born in Newfoundland. They are;
George Strickland b. abt 1851 and Alberta E.Strickland b. 1883.
Interseting because they are working at a small fishery where Alexander Butt, of Newfoundland, also worked and Alexander was the husband of Clara Poole Butt who was the daughter of Harriett(Strickland) & John Poole.
