I am gathering up bits and pieces as contributors send email or make postings about Fox Bay life. If you have the time, please send the names of those you knew and anything they may have told you as well as the time period they were there. My gg grandparents left before the island was sold to Menier and were possibly part of the federal gov't evacuation that took place in 1880/81. His wife Catherine Sargent Francis and her first husband, George Francis, were from Garia, Newfoundland and all indications are they were members of the Nfld group enticed to colonize the island by the Anticosti Company. Many false promises were made and after a disappointing arrival in 1874 they made the best of it as all had sold everything in Newfoundland for their new life on Anticosti Island.
