In compiling a family tree for the Point Verde,Placentia, Greenes, I've noticed that on the South Coast there are Greenes/Greens with the same sort of names...Austin,Augustine,Nicholas,etc.,and i am wondering if anyone knows of a very old connection between those of South Coast and Point Verde,Placentia.
My GGG-GF,John Green and his brother Robert came in from Boston about late 1778,Robert having fought briefly on USA side. The family were Quakers. John evenrually married into the RC population of Placentia, but one brother(name unknown),remaining Protestant, moved to "the other side of the island" (only direction we have),married there and raised a family. This would have been late 1700s or very early 1800s. Meanwhile, my GGG-GF and his family(brother, parents) were buried in the Anglican cemetery in Placentia up to 1829.After that, his RC descendants were buried in RC cemetery.
If this rings any bells for any Anglican(or other) Greens and Greenes on the south Coast,or elsewhere, please do contact me and compare notes.I so far have accumulated 192 pages on Point Verde Greens/Greenes.
