I have a Phoebe Stickland, daughter of William and Frances who was born in Burgeo on January 24, 1849. She eventually married Thomas Weller (Wheeler) and settled in the Bay Of Islands. I have a list of all her siblings complete with their birth dates that were taken from the family bible.
I also have a Fanny Morgan, daughter of Henry Edward and Fanny Morgan of Burgeo, who married Reuben Park of Mcivers Cove. Also there is a Jane MAtthews in my tree who married Ralph Brake of the Bay Of Islands. These women were supposedly native people or Micmac. If there is anyone with information on the Sticklands, Morgans, and Matthews please contact me as I have a lot of info and am willing to share

I am interested in what you have of the Strickland family. I am trying to collect and piece out all information of the Strickland family to find out the family members of my ggg grandmother Elizabeth Strickland b. Abt.1822 Upper Burgeo. I have no information of the Strickland's other than what others have sent to me and still can not place her with others Stricklands. Elizabeth married George Keeping also of Upper Burgeo. Thanks for any information. Pam at num1pen@aol.com

Daphne: I would be very interested in your Strickland info. I have several Strickland ladies I am looking for.
There was a Harriett Strickland who married George Feltham. Harriett was Micmac Indian and was an excellent mid wife.
Catherine Strickland that Married Robert Strickland
Rachele Strickland that Married Amos Cutler.
All of these Stricklands came from the South Coast and were from the mid 1800's.

Hi Sue, I'm afraid that I don't have any info on the three ladies that you are looking for. I have info on William Stickland and Frances Organ Sticklands family. IThey have a daughter listed by the name of Harriott who was born July 12, 1829 and I assume that she is the Harriott who arriedGeorge Feltham. I have been told that the Organ's from the Burgeo area were micmac and I would be interested in knowing where you found the info on Harriott being a micmac. If you would like me to send what info I have on William and Frances Stickland family then please e-mail me and I will forward it to you Daphne

Daphne: Harriett Strickland was my husbands Great Grand mother. It would be about the right date of birth. His mother remembers seeing Harriott when she was very young. Her mother told her that they were micmac, Harriott was a mid wife and quite famous. The indian features are quite noticable in my husbands family.
Now this is interesting. We have traced our Strickland's back to 1908 with John Strickland (Hermitage). Could this William be John's sibling??????? Yes I would be very interested in anything you have on the Strickland or Organ name. I am willing to share anything I have that you would be interested in also. Sue

Thomas Wheeler born 1849 Bay of Islands. His wife shown on 1921 census as Phebe born Jan 1849 at Port aux Basques. They show sons Joseph born Oct 31 1890 and Herbert born 1894. The census also records another Wheeler Richard as being head of a household. He was born June 1872.
I have been told that Phoebe was my great aunt and I would be very interested in obtaining a list of her brothers and sisters.

Hi Kimberly

Sorry it took me awhile to answer but I've been away on vacation and only got back last night. The only info I have is on William and Frances Stickland who were married October 26, 1828. William was born on April 28, 1801 and Frances was born on April 27, 1809. Frances maiden name was Organ. If this is of any interest to you let me know and I will send the rest of the info to you.

Daphne
