I am looking for information on Richard & "Kitty" Catherine McGrath who may be connected to my Patrick McGrath (born 1820 in Tipperary, Ireland).
I am searching for information on a Richard & Catherine McGrath, who we believe were married in October 1814 in Carrick on Suir, County Tipperary, Ireland.
It is possible that they settled possibly in Newfoundland Canada (possibly Argentia), likely after 1820.
I am told that there are McGraths that settled in Patricks Cove about that time, and that there might be information in Placentia bay east (originally called Devils Cove) and that the parish of St Brides keeps the records for Patricks Cove
now.
I am also searching for siblings (or any other family information) for Patrick McGrath who was born in 1820 in Tipperary, Ireland (we are assuming, of this Richard & Catherine who married in Carrick on Suir, Co. Tipperary, Ireland). We are told that he came to Newfoundland and that he then came to the USA before he reached the age of 18 years.
Family lore indicates that he came to America in 1829 - 183? with 3 brothers (most likely named Michael, Daniel, Thomas &/or James - other possible names for the brothers were Richard &/or Peter - Richard & Peter were not commons names for Patrick's descendents, so it is believe that the first names indicated for the 3 brothers were most likely the correct ones). It is also possible that he had a sister named Catherine (as her husband was a sponsor when Patrick became a naturalized citizen of the USA in 1855 in La Salle County, IL as was a James McGrath).
Patrick's daughter Mary Anne McGrath married my grandfather James Lawrence Begley in 1903 in Ottawa, La Salle County, IL(their son James Joseph Begley is my father).
I would very much appreciate any information that could be provided for my research.
