I have Thomas Barrington (born Sept. 1881) married to Eva ? (born Jan. 1887) from Leading Tickles. I have 8 children listed for them. Is this the information you are looking for?Their daughter Dorothy married Harold Beck, which is where they tie into my family tree.

This certainly seems to be the Barrington's I am looking for I would greatly appreciate any information you may be able to provide. I have not been able to go back any further than Thomas Barrington there seems to be a lack of information for the Black River area available for genalogy research on the net, hopefully what you have may shed some additional light on this for me. Thomas Barrington married Eva SILK of LT as you indicated. I have been able to go back a couple of genereations on her side of the family and if you wish I will forward this information to you, although none of this has been confirmed. I look forward to your response.

There was a Thomas Davidge who lived in the same area as Julia Davidge during the same time period. The Thomas Davidge line continues in Newfoundland, with his grandson, John Benjamin Davidge and his siblings' children.

Because Thomas came to NL as a 15 year-old stowaway from England, and had a son, Thomas who visited several times with the John Davidge family who settled in Burgeo, NL, we believe these lines connect in England. Since these places could only be accessed by sea, I cannot think of any reason why Thomas's son would have made this difficult journey for any other reason than to visit relatives.

I am one of the many great-great-grandchildren of John Davidge.

I do not know if Julia is related to Thomas, but have forwarded your posting to John's niece who is researching that line. Every clue helps as lack of literacy in those times was a barrier to relatives keeping contact going.

I will also forward it to a genealogist who is trying to connect several Davidge lines in case she has run across any of these names in her research.

If you have any information about Julia's ancestry, I would be very interested. I can be contacted at sharon1333@sympatico.ca

I'm starting to work on a branch of the Beck's of Swift Current.

My line goes back to Wallace Beck (with brother Douglas, sister Allison.)

And his children by Clara (Mildred, Florence, Ivy, May, and Eugene.)

If anyone has overlaps I'd love to trade info.

I was wondering if the Thomas Davidge you referred to is related to the Davidges' of Bay du Nord. Our Thomas Davidge was born around 1840. Oral history has it that the Davidges of Bay du Nord use to send barrels of goods to those in Burgeo.
Any help in connecting these Davidges would be appreciated.

Thank you for posting this. I have been wondering about these Becks for quite some time, but I didn't really know where to look for them. Thomas Beck, born 1845, son of Henry and Dinah, was married to Mary Wiley Giles. She was born on Sound Island, 11 Dec 1844, eighth of James Giles and Mary Ann Wiley's 11 children. Mary Wiley Giles married Thomas Beck 24 November 1865, and they had six kids, all born on Sound Island:

William Henry Beck, b Aug 1866 married his cousin Tryphena Eliza Giles (daughter of Thomas & Elizabeth Giles. Tryphnena's father was the older brother of William's mother). William and Tryphena had three children that I know of: Minnie, b Jan 1888 (probably died very young); Ernest, b Feb 1890; and Minnie Evelyn, b Nov 1891.

James Giles Beck, b Jun 1868, (named for his mother's father) married Martha Hannah Collins, daughter of Samuel Collins and Ann Whittle. James and Martha had at least two children: John Wilfred, 1889; and Jessie, 1891.

Jesse Beck, born May 1870, married Evangeline Bailey 28 November 1891 Sound Island. I don't know if they had any children.

Archibald Beck, born February 1872.

There were two more children whose names I don't know, but who were born between the end of 1873 and the start of 1877. Some of the register pages for the years 1874-1876 are lost, so that there are some children listed whose parents are not known, and some parents whose children were baptised, but the children's names are lost. The Beck children are in this latter group.

If Thomas Beck (b 1845) was married to an Elizabeth who died in 1907, possibly Mary Giles died quite young? Or maybe I have the wrong Thomas Beck. I would be very interested in hearing your thoughts. Tryphena Giles (m. Wm Henry Beck) was the older sister of John Joseph Giles, who was my husband's g-g-grandfather.
