Hello All,

I am looking for parentage for Leonard DAY born April 1867 in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland. I am also interested in any other information you might have.

He worked as a miner in Tilt Cove, Pilley's Island, and Bell Island.

Leonard married Elizabeth MAY (born Nov 1869 in Indian Burying Place, Newfoundland) in 1887 at Little Bay, Newfoundland.

They had at least 10 children:

I am Also looking for info on the Riley's O'Riley's that worked the same mines and had a large family with the children born in tilt cove my GF Thomas born there have you found any record sources

It is pretty difficult as there are a lot fewer digitised sources for Newfoundland pre-1945 vs the rest of Canada.I have found a few records through familysearch.org, but the Newfoundland records are not indexed, so you need to know the location and year for the record you are searching for. I also found a few just by luck, some even that I wasn't looking for.
