thank you so much p jeddore for this wonderful info on abraham paul! I know that this is great news for those searching out abraham ( one of two) paul! I do not know if you can help me with mary paul(1871-2) who married alfred beaton (1868). All I have is my thoery that ellen paul was her mother and I am still not positive if fanny was ellens sister and what relation to ben paul they were. I theorize they were siblings but who was their parents? I receieved a birth baptismal saying that noel paul could be mary's father but the dates were out by 10 years, yet noel and emma paul (place not given) had a daugter fanny in 1867. witness were nicholas power and eliza jane madore. Any help in my direction would be greatly appreciated. thank you for answering this site. jackie micmak1

FYI. I pass this on without the author's permission. I don't think s/he would mind.

I had a different line of descent from my own work, admittedly with some speculation.
Noel Paul (aka Newel/Knewel/Newal) married Aug 19 1839 to Jane Sylvester, per the Burin RC records which do not give the actual place. WIT: Bernard & Mary Jo(e). I think that Jane was aka Joanna, as happens in RC records with the Latin versions sometimes used by the priests. I found only 2 children born to Noel (so far)
A. ELLEN PAUL baptized July 1 1846 (from the Burin RC records) (mother Jane Sylvester)
B. FRANCIS PAUL baptized Sep 13 1866 Fortune (from the Tilting RC records (mother Johanna Sylvester)
From the Tilting RC records, Ellen Paul had with Thomas Barnes (not married):
Mary PAUL baptized Sep 26 1873 Hauls Bay (Halls Bay)
I believe this could be the MARY PAUL who married 1892 Fortune Hr RC age 20 to Alfred Joseph Beaton (her yr of birth wrongly given in Census as 1880)
Alfred Joseph Beaton was converted and baptized into the RC church on Nov 2 1892 at Wigwam Point, with a partial DOB of May 14 (no year). This makes me think he is the same person as Henry Alfred BEATON, born MAY 14 1871 Upper Sandy Point, son of Alfred Beaton & Mary Ann Porter. His sponsors at the RC conversion/baptism were Michael Lyver and ELLEN PAUL.
Children of Alfred Joseph Beaton & Mary Paul included
1. Johanna Beaton b May 5 1892 Wigwam Pt, Exploits River (1893 in Civil records)
2. Ellen Beaton b Sep 9 1895 Norris Arm
3. Julia Beaton b Sep 9 1895 Norris Arm
4. Ernest Beaton born circa June 1898 Peters Arm
5. Francis (Frank) Beaton bc Mar 1901 Peters Arm
6. Susanna Beaton b Mar 9 1905 (from Whitbourne RC records) (born Peters Arm per Census)
7. Alfred Beaton b Apr 25 1907 Wigwam Point (Whitbourne RC records)
8. Charles Beaton b Aug 9 1908 Wigwam Pt (Whitbourne RC records)
9. Roland Beaton bc May 1909 Peters Arm
10. Daughter Beaton bc Nov 1914 Peters Arm

Once again, thankyou pjeddore! jill marshall is the archavist who helped me at the rooms in st. johns. She regularly updates me with the beaton ancestry and she is absolutely the best. I just sent along your info about abraham paul for her files and for all the same reasons!I am so glad that you saw my queries about the pauls. they were the most important part of my husbands family and we are going to get a gravestone for mary and joe paul whom are (we think) buried in the wigwam point indian cemetary in peterview. Our cousin gerald beaton is integral for a lot of info with this family (mary paul was his grandmother and my husbands g grandmother) and gerald donated the gravesite land to the indian band a few years ago. But sadly there are many in there and no records. We will be holding a ceremony and have it blessed when we do this. Is there any connection between the pauls and the jeddores? I have the info on santu paul and the badger pauls. We know of this relation. I also got a true copy of the baptismal of mary paul (barnes) ellen paul and thomas barns parents etc. on my last trip to nfld and jill was there with me. Also my husbands grandfather and brother are named frances, and I thought also that mary belonged to ellen because she named her twins ellen and julia. I believe that I came across a julia joe or brazil in something to do with the pauls and there was a (paul) in her name. Must find it. Thank you again for all of this. micmak1

Thank you for this information. I have a couple of more questions if you can help me.

Are these baptismal dates? or birthdates? Are any of them twins? Is Johanna Paul the same as Josephine Fowler?

You are a fountain of information and we really appreciate them.

Sorry... Another thing...

When did Abraham Paul die? or do you know when Margaret Kennedy remarried to James Beson??? This is the line that we are related to.

On the list of children, it should be birth dates.

I got this information from another post..
"My husband's grandmother Johanna Paul who was born on wigwman point in 1903 and her father's name was Abraham Paul and her mother's name was Margaret. Johanna known to us a Josephine married my husband's grandfather Daniel Fowler who lived their lives on Bell Island, Newfoundland. Josephine died at the grand old age of 98 in July 2001. She talked often of her early childhood days of wigwman point. I do not know much of her family history but love know more information if you might have any to give.

I am not to sure if this is the same person you are taking about in your email. Please feel free to email at lorrainefowler@mail.gov.nl.ca. Also Josephine had one brother Frank Paul who lived and died in Norris Arm, Newfoundland married to Mary Paul who is also deceased."

and was hoping to confirm.

Where did you find your information Phil? Are you in Newfoundland?

Thank you for everything...

I got my info from my own research and exchanges with a lot of people. I just take it all and enter it in my family tree maker software and try to merge it all.
I am from Conne River Newfoundland living in Natuashish Labrador.
