Hi Gloria, I am a LANNAN descendant in Australia. I have made contact with Bernie Lannan in the USA. I am descended from Michael's brother Patrick, who immigrated to Australia. I have many of the line here.

Nothing on Grace but did find a death record for a Joseph Noseworthy.
Died 25 1902 age 75 years at Nameless Cove Joseph Noseworthy. Birthplace Cupids.

I am trying to find any info possible on JOSEPH NOSEWORTHY who married GRACE (DIAMOND) and lived in Nameless Cove but the only entry I can find is only in the directories, I can't find any reference to their children.

GRACE was originally from Catalina, possibly a WILTSHIRE and I believe she died abt 1909 but I can't find any reference to her either. This would be around the turn of the century so I am not having much luck with documentation.

Any info you have would be greatly appreciated!

Vicky! the information that I have is that Christopher Mahar's father is William Billy Mahar but I don't know if this information is right for sure but you can research yourself. If you find the right information would you let me know?

I have the same info on their place of birth. I don't think that is the date Alice died as their youngest child Peter J. was born in 1906. There is a big age gap between them and I think Christopher was married before.
In an article their son Michael who married Catherine Hynes said he grew up in a family of 15 children. Only 7 are listed in the census.

The information I have for Christopher Mahar and Alice Walsh is that he was born in March, 1848 in New Ferrole. Alice Walsh/Welsh with 1871 (assuming the year she died) and I have noted Flower's Cove. Again I'm not sure if this was her place of birth or death. My trail runs cold after this.

I also have this Christopher Mahar's father being Patrick Mahar born on Dog Island. I believe my great uncle Joe or great Uncle Pat (both of Bird Cove) told me this information several years ago when I visited.

Here is what I wrote.

This is what I know.

We know we are related to Christopher Mahar but none of our family really knows how.

My great grandparents were Patrick Mahar and he married Eliza Jane Caines. Both are from the Port Saunders area.
They had 5 children.

Priscilla married Henry House from Port aux Choix and then she married William Pittman.

Julia never married.

Sarah Elizabeth married Arthur Laing.

John Thomas moved to the USA.

Edgar Patrick (my grandfather) moved to Jersey Harbour and married Fanny Jensen.

And I keep trying to find people who might know who Patrick's parents are and so far no luck !

Two of my younger sisters visited Bird cove last year and Irene Myers gave them her email address for me but she hardly ever replies.

Also Annette Myers has given me a bit of information. My older sister met her mother years ago when they visited Bird Cove.
She said her Uncle Ambrose was still alive and I asked if he might know who Patrick's parents were but I haven't heard back from her.

No one seems to know anything about Patrick Mahar and Eliza Jane Caines or their children.

It's all very frustrating not being able to find any positive information.

I take the info from the Rumbolt site and then I look in the census for that area. I also check in vital statistics. I have found obituaries for some of the younger generation and most times it says who the parents were.

My name is Rhonda and I am somehow related to Christopher Mahar who married Alice Walsh. My grandfather was Patrick Mahar and he married Eliza Jane Caines.
Christopher and Patrick are somehow related but I can't find out how !

I got the information that james was Christopher's father from another researcher in Bird Cove the same place that I am from but we don't know if the information is right it's hard to know for shore. do you think the information on the Rumbolt's sight is right? What is the address for the rumbolt's sight where I can look for myself and is it you Vicky that I am giving this information to? and who is the other person that gave you this information

Another person researching the Mahar's told me who Christopher's parents were. Also on the Rumbolt site it lists William as Christopher's father.

For Elizabeth Hynes I got that info from what others are sharing on ancestry.

Where did you hear that Christopher's father was James ?

Christopher's parents were William Mahar and a Gould. I can't find her first name. Her parents were Alexander Duncan Gould and Mary Watts.

For Alice Walsh I have that her father's name was James. I don't have any parents for him. He married Elizabeth Isabella Hynes. Her parents were William Hynes and Mary Ann Maher.

I also found that after James died Elizabeth married George Newcombe.

This is what I have and it may not be 100% correct so keep that in mind.

If her father was Patrick Mahar she would have been part Irish. Her mother must have been a Native.

I am still trying to find information on a Patrick Mahar who married Eliza Jane Caines. I'm finding it very difficult to get any information on him. He came from the northern peninsula but nobody seems to know anything about him.
