Surnames: Freake Frake Freak
I am looking for information on Michael and Matilda Freake. To date I know they lived in Griquet Nfld and they had four sons and one daughter. The son's names were George, William, Moses and Isaiah. The Daughter's name was Ann. Any information would be appreciated. The spelling of the family name could also be Frake, Freak etc.

Hi there,
I'm responding to your message of March 2006 although it's many years later regarding Michael & Matilda Freake. My research shows that Matilda's maiden name was Taylor. I'm also seeking information about this family. I believe that their son Isaiah bc.1881 married Mary Maud Prowse on 17th Nov 1911 in Harry's Harbour.

If you have any additional data I would be thrilled to receive.

Many thanks,
Reg Freake

Hi Reg, good to hear from you. I have lots of information on Isaiah and Maud. Isaiah was my Great Grandfather and Maud was his second wife after my Great Grandmother Bessie Evans died. What is your connection to these two people?

Hi Baxter, It's great to hear from a fellow-Freake and a fellow-researcher.

Yes, I'm the one. I also sent another message to you through Ancestry. com; my name is Reg Freake and I've been trying to reconstruct the ancestry of the Freake Family(s) of Newfoundland for many years. My research is quite extensive but there are always many mysteries and/or missing and/or incorrect data. I've traced my own Freake Family back to John Freake bc.1780. However, I have a lot of names which I haven't been able to connect to parents, wives, etc. (I'm sure you know the challenges). I'm of the mind that we are all connected to a common set of Freake bloodline but that may take me to England to establish any common roots. I don't want to move my focus and research to England until I'm somewhat satisfied with the NFLD records first.

I have Isaiah Freake & Mary Maud Prowse in my tree and have identified their parents and some (maybe all) of their children. However, there are lots of missing and possibly incorrect data. I also would like to connect their grandparents, GG grandparents, etc. so that I can verify if they connect to other Freakes in my family tree.

I can send you what I have on Michael & Maud, etc. and you can review and verify and/or send me any corrections, omissions, etc. If you send me your regular email address then I'll send you an attachment with the descendants records.

Look forward to hearing back from you.

Best regards,
Reg Freake

Thanks Baxter, my sincerest appreciation.

Most of my family tree research is on Ancestry.ca so I will send you an invite shortly which will give you access to my family tree. There are many "branches" on my Ancestry tree which covers both sides of my family (father & mother). I haven't uploaded my tree for a few months but will be doing so soon. In the meantime, there's lots of info to review and I welcome your comments, questions and revisions, etc.

Best regards,
Reg
