More on Caines in Burgeo, Newfoundland:

My great-grandmother was Caroline Caines b.1856 (in Burgeo) m.20 Nov 1877 to William J Davidge b.27 Aug 1850
Her parents were John Caines and Martha Vatcher
His parents were John Davidge and Sarah Jane Guy

Caroline's sister, Phoebe b.1862 m. 12 Dec 1886 to Alfred Thomas Davidge b.1860

We do not know who, if any other siblings there were of Caroline and Phoebe.

Two brothers married to 2 sisters = all their children were double-cousins. The 2 couples built a large double house, each living in one side. There were 17 children between the 2 couples.

I have more history available on those who are Davidge descendants.

I've been more involved with trying to put the Davidges back together, but am running into collateral names -Matthews, Guy, Northcott, Vatcher, Dicks.

There is a Newfoundland Genealogy site where a Rowena Caines is mentioned in the photo credits.
All extra info welcomed.

Hi Tom

I will send you what I have. I am not sure how much is accurate, but I did find some doing my research and some of others.
I will try and scan and send it to you sometime this weekend when I have some spare time.

Hi Tom,
Sorry for the delayed reply. I forgot I had used this email address for replies at one time.

Will be happy to exchange info on Caines and related families and have much more than when you replied. There are now about 50 of us who have ancestors on the South Coast of NL who are sharing genealogy info freely and making connections with our cousins much faster.

Are we cousins?

Please use sharon1333@sympatico.ca for contact.

Thanks,
Sharon
