Francis Simms (possibly Simmons/Simmond) of St. Anthony

Surnames: Simms, Simmons, Barnes
Hello,

I am trying to find out more about my GG Grandmother Frances Simms (aka Fanny). She was born about 1869 in St. Anthony. She died 13 July 1902 at Pilleys Island. She married Duncan Barnes, I am not sure where or when but my guess is about 1886 near Little Bay.

She had 6 children that I can find.

Wentworth Barnes (My Great Grandfather) born in Little Bay, later moving to Toronto
Herman Barnes
George Barnes
Effie Barnes - born Boot Harbour - Married Herbert Allenby
Lytton Howell Barnes - born Pilleys Island
Mary Elizabeth - born Pilleys Island

All I know from her grave marker is that she was from St. Anthony. Nothing more about parents or family there.

I would be interested to hear anything that you may have or know about the Simms of St. Anthony. I'd like to try and discover her line.

Thanks,

Lisa

Hello Lisa,
Here is a late reply to your query re the line of Frances (Fanny) Simms. The Church of England in White Bay has the following in it's records...found on familysearch.org
Place of birth...St. Anthony
Parents...Simms, Alfred and Mary
Christian name of child...Fanny
Baptised Sept. 18, 1867 by R. Temple
Something for you to consider. I am enclosing a download of the document. Line #8 on the page.
There are other Simms baptisms in this church's records.
Apologies if you already have this info.
Linda

Wonderful Linda!!! Thank you!

I did not look at White Bay, for any of the Newfoundland sites. I didn't realize this is where the records for St. Anthony would be. This is so great. Thank you. I will starting looking more into the records there on the Grandbanks site as well.

Do you have a connection to the Simms?

Lisa

I can't find this document on Family Search. Do you mind sending me the link? Or even just telling me which region you clicked on? I'm not familiar with that region of Newfoundland and can't seem to find anything including White Bay.

Thanks.
Lisa

Lisa,
I have no connection at all to the Simms. It just so happened I was cruising through NL message boards. When I saw your post I recalled that some St. Anthony records were in White Bay Parish. So I did a quick check and you know the rest.
