Surnames: Fitzpatrick , Bromley
Anyone researching the Fitzpatrick family of Conche, NL. Monica was a daughter of John Fitzpatrick and Agnes(Dower). Monica was born in the 1890's and moved to NS before 1925. She married my great uncle James Mc/MacLean in 1925 at New Glasgow, NS. She died about 1985 in Nova Scotia. I cannot read the last name of her mother on the hand written marriage registration but it has been suggested that her maiden name was Bromley. Her deth registration is not yet publicly available. There are two entries in the 1921 Census for this name one does not fit the age and the 2nd Agnes is working as a servant in the home of another family. All leads deeply apprciated

I'm not sure if this is one of the census records you are talking about but the age would fit.

1921 Conche St. barbes
Bromley, Martin Head Jan 1877 age 44 born Fischot Islands
Bromley, Agnes Wife June 1870 age 51. born Conche
Fitzpatrick, Minnie Stepdaughter September 1900 age 21 born Conche
Bromley, Kitty Granddaughter August 1918 age 3 born Conche

Perhaps Bromley wasn't Agnes' maiden name but the name from her second marriage.

Just a suggestion
Barbara

In reference to Barbara's message.
Yes, Agnes Bromley (husband Martin) had been previously married to a FitzPatrick. After his death, she later married Bromley. Her maiden name was Dower. We knew her as Aunt Aggie Bromley when we were growing up. She was a lovely, kind lady who was always so tidy-looking in her lovely long black skirts (down to her ankles) with nicely trimmed blouses and an old-fashioned spotlessly clean long, white bib-apron, her grey/white hair tied up in a bun. That's how I remember her.

The second Agnes Bromley was from Fishot Island. She was a housekeeper for my great-uncle John Bromley in Conche. John was a bachelor who raised my dad, Peter Bromley, when he became orphaned at age 7.
This Agnes was a relative of my great-uncle John.

Hope this helps.

Hi My name is Bish Mcgrath, I married Wish McGrath from Conche. I saw your enquiry here on the board, I went to the New Glasgow Library and we found the Obit was printed in the Chronicle Herald
Feb 17, 1986, Monica died in Truro, NS. They did not have a copy of it but you could check the Chronicle Herald in Halifax, 1-800-565-3339, the one I was talking to said they have a fee but he didn't know how much. They also said that it's possible the Library at St. F. X. would have all the copies of the Chronicle Herald or the library in Antigonish part of the New Glasgow, Antigonish Library. I looked at the marriage certificate and the last name is MacLean.
Hope this information is of help to you. My e-mail address is bish1949@hotmail.com
