Does anyone have any information about the Sweetapple surname in Labrador? Through my genealogy search, I've came across a Maryann Sweetapple of Matthew's Cove, Labrador who married John Rumbolt. I would love to know more about the surname and the ancestry! Please email!

Thanks

Vicki, I have a friend who lives in LaConner, Washington and her name is Linda (Rumbolt) Soley. John Rumbolt is an ancestor of hers and she has been enquiring about the Sweetapples as well. Maybe an e-mail to her just might get the ball rolling.
Hope this is of some help. I have included her e-mail address below.

Surnames: Sweetapple
My great-grandfather's name was Edward Sweetapple, my great grandmother was Sophia Cain. My grandfather was Alexander Sweetapple (b. 1889), born on Gooseberry island, NL, the only child of that marriage. Sophia died of consumption age 26 and Edward remarried in 1901 to Susan Howse. Alexander migrated to British Columbia around 1911, married Myrtle Victoria Denman in 1916 in Vancouver and had 2 children. The first was born in 1919 and died a few days after birth. My father was born in 1923, and by that time, the family name had mysteriously changed to Sweetable, thus my father's name was Raymond Risdon Sweetable, and my grandparents also used that name from the 1920's onwards. Raymond ( age 91) has 3 children: myself - Elaine (1952), Maureen (1954) and Glen (1956). Thomas Sweetapple (b. 1906) must be my grandfather's half brother, and I believe there was another half brother called Ned. I am interested in connecting with the offspring of Edward and Susan(na). Please e-mail me at amarrah@shaw.ca if you have any information. Thanks! Elaine Sweetable Taylor
