Alice; I have traced back to about 1820's in Eastern Canada (Codroy Valley, Newfoundland). My G-G-Grandfather was John SAMS (1-m) and his wife was Jane COLLIER. My G-Grandfather was Jacob SAMMS (2-m's) and he married Maryann GALPIN. My Grandfather was Benjamin SAMMS. He passed away several years ago in his 70's with colon cancer. His wife is still living. My Grandmother is Elsie Pearl LeRiche and she's 85. Unfortunately, I am unable to trace back further than John and Jane SAMS and so far have found descendants of these persons in Massachusetts. That's about as far back as I can get right now.
