We too have been searching for information on the Emberley family. My fathers uncle was a George Emberley (1894-1917). killed in the war, There is a Newfoundland memorial in France and his name is part of the memorial. I believe he may be buried in France at this memorial Site. (Beaumont-Hamel). This site is 9 kms from Albert, France. This George Emberley was Age 23 when he died, his Service # was 2994 and he was killed 08/10/1917. He was a brother to my grandfather Joseph William Emberley. Please note, the spelling of our family is Emberley, not Emberly.

Are you still searching for Emberley family tree information. We have been looking into our side of the family and believe that Patrick Emberley 1851-1925 and Margaret Vater 1853-1937 were my great-grandparents. My grandfather was Joseph W. Emberley, born 1891 and married to Sarah Cox, born 1893, died 1976 in Halifax. I would be interested in hearing from you with regards to this family history.

I was looking for the parents of Catherine and Matilda or Elizabeth and Matilda Wells,two sisters married to two brothers, Michael and James Carroll of Burgeo, Matilda married in 1857 and Catherine or Elizabeth in about 1850 Burgeo. Matilda and Michael were my great grandparents. Matilda would have been born close to 1840.

Hi Diane, I am a distant relative of Joseph and Theresa, actually its through his second wife Netta Noseworthy. But I have information on both, and also seeking some more on Theresa but can't seem to find any :(
I have Augstine, William, Russell, Emma and Annie as their children. then with Netta there is Clifton and James. Netta is my GG grandfathers sister, his name was Walter Noseworthy.

Your Michael Hynes was the son of Patrick Hynes and Sarah McCarthy.

Just found this, searching for historical information about Boxey. Phoebe (Skinner) Burt was my grandmother, married to my gramps, Tom Burt. I spent lots of time with my Great-Aunt Bessie. She died in her 90's and her sister Dora was over 100 years old at the time of her death. My father, George Skinner Burt, is 91 and still hale and hearty.

My family originates with James Miles(Myles) who was the first or one of the first settlers of Terrenceville, Fortune Bay. He came from Shaftsbury in Dorset and was recruited by a fish merchant to come to Newfoundland. Aaron Miles is my great grandfather and was married to Rebecca Hearn, daughter of Henry Hearne and Maria Miles.

My mother was Rowena Banfield from Bay L'Argent, Fortune Bay. She was your father's sister and married Edwin West of Bay L'Argent. His parents were Philip and Emily Banfield and his siblings were: Alma, Effie Blanche, Maurice, Susanah,Lucy, Philip, Rowena, and Alice.

I believe grandfather's brother Patrick D. Hynes was married to Charlotte Emberly grandmother's sister.
My Uncle George(Robert) was named after Pte George Emberly his uncle. He said he was killed in France.

Vital records is mainly records after 1892 and are hard to navigate

Thomas Hardy died 1900 of Cancer. Leah died 1927. Both are burried @ Jersey Hr. He was from Jersey Hr. and Leah from St. John's. As a side note my youngest sister was married in the same church as her great grandmother. St. Thomas in St. John's

The Fortune Bay, Harbour Breton C of E marriage register says that James Bungay was 24 and Elizabeth Skinner was 20 when they married 24 Sept 1858, Harbour Breton. I show that Elizabeth died 29 May 1897, Sagona island, James died 11 June 1912, Coombe's Cove.

James Vallis and Catherine Keeping are parents of Susannah Vallis (b. 11 Aug 1864 d. 21 Nov 1946) who married Thomas Bungay (b. 10 Jun 1859 d. 20 Jul 1934) son of James Bungay and Elizabeth Skinner.

The information I have been finding on Ancestry when comparing this Elizabeth Skinner of Sagona who is married to James Bungay is that she was born 1938.

However, in a 1921 Newfoundland census I found of Sagona there is an Elizabeth Skinner listed:

SKINNER Elizabeth F Mother Widow 1848 Feb 73 Sagona

she is listed as the only occupant of that household, so it leads me to wonder if this is the same Elizabeth Skinner who was married to James.

Sorry for answering so late.

I think Charlotte might have been married before she married Mr. Browne. I do wonder if Penney/Penny was her married name and not her maiden name as I have not been able to find a Charlotte Penny(except for one living at the same time, but being much younger).
