I am looking for more information on the Miles/Myles family. The last name I have is Abraham Miles born Sept 1862 in Fortune Bay and died on Sept 16, 1947. Abraham married Abigail Reeves on Sept 11, 1888.

I have records that were compiled by Molly Harris, who has connected the families from Terrenceville and Little Bay East. Both, according to her records, traced their roots back to James Miles. I will look up her address and forward it to you.

As of right now I do not have any from Little East Bay or Jersey Harbour but that don't mean anything right now as I don't have my clan back that far yet. I haven't been able to work on it to much right now but I do plan to get back at it soon.

I am attempting to trace back my wife's Miles ancestors. Her grandfather was Abraham Miles born Boxey 1897; her g.grandfather was John James Miles born Boxey 1871; and her g.g.grandfather William Miles born I believe in Jacques Fortune 1838. William's father is believed to be John Miles who came from Terrenceville and John's father is believed to be James Miles.
I would be very interested in viewing the records compiled by Molly Harris as they appear to possibly tie in with my wife's ancestors. Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance.

I don't think the records Molly compiled are what you are looking for. Several people have tried to connect these two branches of the families, but no luck. Another gentleman had records for the Boxey branch, but again couldn't connect the two. Abraham Miles (my great grandfather) can be traced directly back to James (the original settler of Terrenceville). I will try and find the records for the Boxey branch and if I do, will gladly send them to you.

Thanks for your prompt reply. It is unfortunate that nobody has been able to connect the two branches of Miles/Myles. I would appreciate the details of the Boxey Miles if you are able to locate the records.
Thanks Brian

The earliest I can trace my Miles family is back to Stephen born early 1800’s. He married Susan Luscombe sometime before 1835 when their son Henry was born.
I have the following information which was passed to me by another cousin
“Stephen, a brother and a cousin left England and settled in Boxy South, Fortune Coast and Little Hr. East.”
My Stephen was at Herring Neck , Notre Dame Bay as early as 1839 when he purchased the Schooner " Tatler " From Daniel Blanford .
If the above Information is correct then our Miles ancestors are connected in some way.
Did James Miles have a son Stephen?
