They are buried in the Cupid's United Church cemetery.
This is NOT the other Nathan Norman (1809-1883) who married Elizabeth Minden.
Annie was originally from Bay Roberts.

The original post here is quite old now... but here is some info on Sir Henry. He was apparently the son of George Augustus Pynn. I descend from his sister Catherine, who married Richard Ash. The Newfoundland Quarterly states (of Richard Ash):

"He married a Carbonear lady, a sister of that
great native of Newfoundland who was one of Wellington s
Major-Generals in the Peninsular War our Sir Henry Pynn."

Therefore, Henry and Catherine are both children of George Augustus.

I believe Mary died before 1897 when John and several of his children moved to Lynn MA, USA.
I have quite a bit of info on Mary's family but can find nothing on John's ancestors. Any connection with yours?
roy

I have posted some time ago but thought I would try again.
I am looking for any info relating to Archibald and Newman Moores (or Moors). They were born in Northern Bay, Newfoundland to James Moores (or Moors) and Maria Tilley. Archibald was born approx 1891 and Newman was a bit older.
Both parents died when they were young and at least Archibald was raised in Lower Island Cove by John Manuel and his wife.
He left Newfoundland in approx 1916. I have not been able to find any birth records for the sons nor any burial records for the parents. Information about parentage came from Archibald himself.

However, according to my family Eli's parents are George Moores and Elizabeth Gill. This is different from your information and I was wondering where you found it? (I'm wondering if I have incorrect info). Thank you!

Hi Ken I think I asked you before back in 2005, but can you check to see if you've added any new information that may contain an Emily Bishop born c. Oct 1861 at Coley's Point, and married to a Patrick McGrath from Collier's? She would be my gggrandmother and I can't find anything on her family. I only know that she had 3 children, one of them my ggrandmother Anastasia McGrath. Any information on the Bishop surname from Coley's Point would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.

Tish

He may also have opened an inn called "The Slough" in Harbor Grace. Wife's name was Margaret, known children were Matthew (married Mary Hanlen/Handlen), Jane (married James Fogerty) and Catherine.Possibly more children. Would like to connect him to Harbour Grace and the inn, as well as any political activity.

I am looking for information to confirm his parents names are Charles (b 1836?) and Levinia (Noel)(B1846?) Crocker. Cemetery records show more than one Levinia Crocker, one buried 1922, one 1917; St. Anglican's records also show a burial of 1895 for Levinia. There is record of Charles and Levinia being married 10 Jan 1865.

Due to the number of Crockers with the name James or Charles, it has been difficult to confirm which line they belong to.

Possible siblings to James: Henley 1901;Mary;and Alexander 1869

I seem to remember a Clara in later years , but had no idea she was a Clarke. There were only 3 other Clarke names on the Island years ago. where did she come from>>>>?

Regards Fred

The Rose's lived on the same street but was across the road [forget that name] from Grammer street and looking at the Old C. OF E academy where i went until i left the Island. I am trying to get my head together about Annie Dart. Only one such family who lived near us. At the time i knew Annie[I think] She was a widow and related to the Mitchell's from Portugal Cove.

I suggest you try the Newfoundland Grand Banks website or the Newfoundland Gen Web website. You should be able to find these easily through Google, but if not please contact me offline and I'll give you the addresses. I have family connections in the Spaniard's Bay area. I suggest you look at parish records for Harbour Grace as there are many Spaniard's Bay baptisms and marriages in those records. Both websites have search facilities so you should be able to search on Roberts and see what you come up with.

In the Harbour Grace Anglican marriage records, I find the following:

27 Feb 1860	Henry Munden Robarts	bachelor of Brigus Frances Alice [Perce?]	Davis	spinster of Carbonear

23 Nov 1824	William	Robberts of Spanyards Bay, Bachelor Dianna	Nosarry	of Briants Cove, Spinster

__ Dec 1780	John	Roberts Ann	Normor	Beleisle

2 Dec 1816	John	Roberts	of Spaniards Bay, Bachelor Sarah	Vokey	of the same place, Spinster

My e-mail address is rpgoodyear@yahoo.ca if you need further suggestions.

Hi again Fred;

I'm looking for Julia Clarke who I believe lived with Willis and Annie for a short time in the early 50's. Any memories of her? She's a second cousin of mine.

Marge

Selby Sheppard married Janet...need maiden name

I'm wondering if anyone has any information on this couple. Selby was born in 1872 to Martin and Eliza Sheppard of Harbour Grace. I'm looking for the maiden name of his wife Janet born in 1878, and the year they were married. The Harbour Grace census reports state that Janet was born in Harbour Grace.

Thanks,
Marge

Roberts..Please help

I am looking for any information regarding Selina Roberts. She is my gg grandmother. My g grandfather (her son) was John Roberts b 1882 in Spaniard's Bay. From what I can tell from the US Census Selina came to the US in 1901 and was married for the first time at age 14, probably to John's father. The problem is, that I cannot find anything that gives me a clue as to what her maiden name was or who she married. John had a brother Archibald and William Roberts and a half brother Charles Palmer from Selina's 2nd marriage. I have tried the Newfoundland website and found a couple of Selina's and some families with the surname Roberts but other than that I am stuck!!
Any help would be great
Thanks
Tracy

PS..can someone tell me what else Spaniards Bay may be called as it is not easy to find the name. I am thinking it may be easier if I knew the region
