We must be related! My great grand-dad on my mom's (Rosalind Wornum) side, Vernol Ethelwood Braithwaite aka Dad was born in Sydney or Newfoundland. I cannot remember which one but he lived in Halifax until he passed away in December of 2008. Dad's mom was Mary Besso of Canada, she was a Caucasian woman, and his dad Charles Braithwaite was from Christ Church, Barbados. I'm only 22 and I live in the States as well. I know my Canadian roots but I want to know more about our Bajan roots, and when I really became more interested it was too late because Dad had passed away. I actually just came back from Barbados aka BIM for the first time last month and this woman that was working in the souvneir store asked me if I was Bajan and I told her that my great-granddad was Bajan and Canadian and she said I knew you had some Bajan in you b/c you're friendly just like us. Idk if this is a Bajan thing but pretty much everyone on my mom's side has a gap between the front of our teeth and I thought it was like a family trait because I typically do not see many people with it. But when I was in Barbados omg everyone, I tell ya, had a gap! It was a great experience I loved Crop over- Kadooment, Foreday, everything! One day you have to go. The next time I go hopefully I can do some research and find family members! If you want to reach out to me I can be reached at
tswornum@gmail.com! I would love to chat or hear about the family info you have found!
