Wagg Family of Burin, Newfoundland
I am researching my family of Burin, Newfoundland. My ggg-grandfather was James Wagg born in Stepaside Nov. 8, 1842. He married Bridget Vigus. Their children were Richard, Robert (my gg-grandfather), Malvina, George & William. I have a lot of information on another James Wagg and his descendants (born in England late 1600s or early 1700s) who appear so far to be unrelated however also were in Stepaside in the 1800s. I welcome any information you can share.
Thanks, Carole (nee Wagg)

Re: Wagg Family of Burin, Newfoundland
Hi Marilyn,
I have a Elizabeth Wagg who married Benjamin Burfitt in 1829. I have that they had 8 children - Benjamin, Martha b. 1831, Mary Wagg b. 1833, James b. 1837, John b. 1840, Hannah b. 1843, Bridget b. 1846 and Frances b. 1847. Perhaps Elizabeth is Elizabeth Frances or Frances Elizabeth?? I have no other connection for her to any other Waggs that I have so far. Do you have any other info on Frances/Elizabeth?
Thanks for your message. Carole

Re: Wagg Family of Burin, Newfoundland
Hi Carol, I have three Nina Waggs in my findings:
Nina Pearl Wagg b. September 1, 1925 daughter of James Kenneth Wagg & Rhoda Foote. She had 4 siblings: Margorie, Walter Lewis, Murial Margaret & James Freeman.
Nina Wagg b. February 19, 1912 daughter of Richard Wagg & Emily Jane Moffat. She had 9 siblings: Walter Lewis, James Kenneth, Miriam Ethel, Leonard, Archibald, James Clyde, Vera, Una Louise, Edmund.
Nina Wagg b. unknown daughter of Walter Lewis Wagg & Annie Hollett. She had 2 siblings: Freeman & Murial.
As you can see the information is very similar which leads me to believe that it all may only be one person or two since some of the information seems to be the same. I welcome any information you may have to share. Keep in touch! Carole

Re: Wagg Family of Burin, Newfoundland
This James Wagg might be related to James Wagg b Nov 30 1816. Son of Thomas Wagg and Rebecca Kirby.
Thomas and Rebecca had 7 children. Joseph Heber, James, Mary Frances, Richard Kirby, Frances Bridget, Thomas, Elizabeth

Re: Wagg Family of Burin, Newfoundland
I was wondering if the FRANCES BRIDGET WAGG, child of Thomas and Rebecca you referred to married Benjamin Burfitt? Frances is my great, great grandmother who was born in 1804 and died in 1879. She married Benjamin in 1827 at Burin. I have not been able to go back any further in my search for Frances Wagg. Hoping you could help. Marilyn

Re: Wagg Family of Burin, Newfoundland
Hi Carol - I just received tonight a wealth of information from Sheila (Wagg) Morrison. She has indeed confirmed for me that I had some information duplicated. I can send you a geneology report for Richard Wagg & Emily Noftall (your grandparents) and on down if you like. Let me know.

Re: Wagg Family of Burin, Newfoundland
Hi David, I do believe that my 3rd great-grandfather is related to the family you mention however I have not yet been able to make the connection. He could be the youngest child in this particular family or he could be the son of Joseph Heber as there is a gap in his children between 1841 & 1844. I would love to make the connection some day however for now I am stuck.
