Surnames: Sargent, Sargeant, Francis, Dimmer, Nicolle
I am looking for family connections and more information regarding my great-great grandmother, Catherine Sargent or Sargeant.
What I do know:

-known as Kate
-born in Newfoundland, 8 March 1841 to John Sargent (Sargeant) & unknown
-married George Francis 25 Nov 1864 in Burin. She was residing in Mortier Bay.
-had three sons with George Francis: Henry John 1866 in Mortier, George Robert* 1870 & Eli Teed* 1872 (Baptized Petites Methodist, Garia, Nfld)
-her middle name is shown as Dimmer on her son's death certificate.
-George Francis drowned about the time of Eli's birth. Catherine later married Charles Nicolle on Anticosti Island in 1878 and moved west to Winnipeg and then to Saskatchewan where she died in 1924.

Very interesting, thank-you!

Fanny and Henry Sargent might be a link. Catherine Dimmer Sargent was born about 1840 in Newfoundland. Catherine was married twice. Her first husband was George Francis, her second was Charles Nicolle. She used the names Henry and Fanny when naming her children.

The only record of her parents is on her death certificate and only her father was listed but as John (A son is named John Henry). This could be wrong. She left Newfoundland for Anticosti Island when her Francis sons were very young and they most likely never knew their grandparents considering they were living in WWinnipeg by 1882.

Do you have any more information on this family or suggestions of where I can look further?

As far as I know there were only one family of Dimmers in the Fox Cove, Mortier area of Newfoundland.
I found a record of marriage at Burin Newfoundland

Frances Dimmer and Henry Sargent of Blanford Dorset England
on November 17, 1834, Witness was Thomas Dimmer

Also Baptism records for Daughter Elizabeth. 1837
Mary 1847, Cecelia 1846, Harriett 1850.

The list is incomplete as I was researching Frances sister Elizabeth who was married to my GGF
George Antle.

If I can assist you further i will gladly help and do some more checking when I go back to the Archives in St. John's

Your assistance would be very appreciated. It would be wonderful to find out if Catherine Dimmer Sargent (b March 1841) is a member of Fanny & Henry Sargent's family.

Catherine D Sargent married George Francis on November 25, 1864. Their marriage information was found on the Burin Methodist marriages at http://ngb.chebucto.org/Parish/burin-meth-mar-1850-1879-bur.... .

Their first son, Henry John Francis, was born in Mortier on Feb 11, 1866. I found this at familysearch.org in the Newfoundland Vital Stats. It appears to be entries made from parish records at the time Nfld joined Canada.

Catherine and George left Mortier by March 1870. Their next two sons were baptized at Petites Methodist in Garia. George, a fisherman, drowned around the time their third son was born in September 1872.

By 1877, Catherine was living at Fox Bay, Anticosti Island. It is thought she may have gone there as early as 1874 with other fisherman from Garia. (It appears two other families were her sisters-in-law). By 1878, she is married to Charles Nicole and they have five children together. They eventually moved west to own and operate a ranch in Saskatchewan. She is my great great grandmother. If you find a birth record that ties her to this family, I would be happy to share her geneology with you as well as a photo of her.
