Surnames: Green family of Greenspond area
I have a Thomas Green b.1816 married to Sarah Smith b.1811 married in 1842, I also have a Thomas Green b.1816 married to Anne McBeth b. 1816 married in 1840. I am having some difficulty with the parents of the Thomas's. According to various other researchers I keep getting the same parents for him, John Green b.1780 and Elizabeth Unknown b. 1790. Could it be his father is Thomas Green b. 1777 or Thomas Green b. 1796? Could it be they are two completely different persons with the same dob? Any help separating these individuals would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a little confused about where the Thomas Green b 1777 and Thomas Green b 1796 fit in. But as far as Thomas Green b 1816 there is no reason why he couldn't have been married to both those women. Anne McBeth could have died, probably in childbirth, within a year or so of their marriage. Thomas would have looked for another wife soon after especially if there had been a child that survived. A common occurrence in those times. I would search for a death record for Anne McBeth Green and if you find one that occurs after their marriage and before Thomas' marriage to Sarah Smith you have your answer.

How are you related? Quite easy to figure out really. One Thomas was from Greenspond and the other was from Hampshire. Thomas and Ann's last child was born in 1863. The other Thomas was married twice. See burial records from Greenspond.
