Hi Wayne,

I'm looking for a Cassander born May 21, 1844. Her last name may be Overt or Oldford. She married James Green of Ship island. She died July 1908. The listings on the Grand Banks Web Site say James Green married Keziah Overt. But he definately married a Cassander. They had one son Edward James Green. I know who all Edward's children were. My grandmother was one of them.
If you can help I'd really appreciate it. Thanks - Janet

HI Janet - first a couple of questions - how sure are you about Cassander's birthdate ? I have a Cassander Oldford bp Oct 13, 1840 in Salvage d/o Jms Oldford and Mary Yetman, I have no marriage recorded for her - yet. The first name error I could readily understand given how close the nicknames would sound Kezzie - Cassie . Then I looked a few lines below the Birth record for Edward James and there was a record for a 'Lydia Overt Stagg', on checking her mother's name in her parent's marriage record - it was Keziah Oldford. I believe you made the right assumption that James married Cassander Oldford and I believe it is the one I found in Salvage. Oh BTW, I also have 3 more children for James and "Cassander" - I found them in the Methodist records - they changed religions in the 1860's. If you want the rest of the info I have send me a note.
Regards

I would love to have the rest of the information you have. I too thought Cassander Oldford born in 1840 could possibly be the right girl.
The date I was given for her birth in 1944 is on a old hand written document that lists birthdates mainly for Edward James family. So it may not be correct.
Is there any record of her death? My paper says 1908.

Thank you for your help,
Janet

I think you have that one confused Ed. The Lydia you refer to is a STAGG. Her parents were John and Kezia Oldford Stagg. The siblings baptised Methodist were Arthur, Andrew, Susan , George and Fred. They were not Greens.

I have a Cassandra Olford born October 13 , 1840 in Salvage, Bonivista,NL., but I have her married to lawerence CHAULK born 1845 and died May 24,1917. Cassandra's father was James Oldford 1816 - 1891. Mother was Anne (Caines) Oldford born 1817. Just wondering if I went wrong here somewhere. I did find most info from census throughout the years. Btw I have Anne (Caines) Olford father Joseph Caines and mother Anna (Kean) Caines.
It all started with Allan Chaulk mother Cassandra Oldford and father Lawerence Chaulk.
If I got this wrong, could you help me get it right, if I got it right I'm glad I could help.
You can email me at. george26fm@gmai.com

HI Janet , Although I don't have info on Cassandra Olford 1840...
Could you be looking for Cassandra Olford born 1854-1943?

Because I have info on her as follows;
.Cassandra Olford B1854 married Lawrence Chaulk of Elliston Newfoundland(formerly Bird's Island Cove) Tinity bay, Bonavista Region
My grandfather, Artillus Chaulk, aka Arthur, was there son, They had 14 living children together.
My Cassandra Olford was the daughter of George Olford & Jane Coles.

Although the dates are different, there may be a relation, that I can trace for you.

However if she is the person you nee info on , let me know, I will be happy to help.
