James Forbes, 42nd Blackwatch Highland Regiment
I am looking to find out more info on James Forbes who was discharged from the 42nd blackwatch highland regiment at St John's Oct 1783. He took lot 96 at Nashwaak in 1787,north of Fredricton in York County. I am trying to link him to Richard Forbes, born1796 in New Bandon,Gloucester co. New Brunswick[he's my gggg grandfather. The family tale was that the first Forbes came to Canada with Gen. Wolfe to fight at the Battle of the Plains of Abraham in 1759,so I am also trying to find any info, soldiers lists etc to see if the connection to Scotland was really from there

Re: James Forbes, 42nd Blackwatch Highland Regiment
Jean I have a book titled '1785-1885 Nashwaak Families'. The listing in it for James Forbes fallowes. James Forbes was born in Aberdeenshier Scotland.... He received Lot 95 in the Campbell Grant. This lot is in the Pleasant Valley between the properties of Calvin Dickeson and Florence Cameron. James marred Catherine MacKenzie who is the duoghter of Cpl. Alexander MacKenzie. They only hade one son, James Alexander, who was born in 1803 and married Ann MacKay (b. 1806. If you want a listing of there children please send me an email.
Hope this helps Ron Cameron
