I am looking for information related to the family of Sergeant William Tomlinson of the Royal West India Rangers, who was granted land in the Beaconsfield area. Family records indicate that his spouse was Brigitt Carol Hart. I would be interested to correspond with anyone who may have information on Brigitt's parents - or with anyone sharing an interest in this family.

The name of Brigitt Carol Hart is an ancestral name that was told to me by my father. I am currently researching the name of Maria Carroll Hart (b. abt 1824), who is believed to have married Charles Stewart Wright (b. abt 1817). I am wondering if Brigitt and Maria are the same person, or closely related..? Also, according to my family, Maria/Brigitt was born in the West Indies. None of her census documents verify this, but her children's census forms indicate that 'Birthplace of Mother' is, variously, West Indies, East Indies, East India, or "at sea".
Thanks in advance for your help.

I descend from Sargent William Tomlinson and Bridget. Her maiden name was Carroll and her first husband's surname was Hartt. Maria was her daughter by her first marriage and arrived in New Brunswick with her mother and step-father in 1819. Maria did marry Charles Wright. There were several marriages of Wrights to the Hartts and Tomlinsons. I descend from 2 of Charles Wright's siblings. The area they settled is sometimes called Tomlinson Plantation and it is where Perth-Andover is. Charles Wright's father is James Wright, a Loyalist who arrived in NB in 1783. Charles also has a brother named James and he is one of my ancestors.

Answers to any of the following questions would be very helpful:
1. Who were Bridget's parents? Where (exactly) was Bridget born?
2. What is the available documentary evidence that Bridget arrived in NB in 1819 (I assume with the disbanding West India Rangers, and Sgt William Tomlinson)?
3. Among the marriages between Wrights and Tomlinsons was, I understand, the marriage between Amelia Wright and William Tomlinson (1st son of Sgt William Tomlinson and Bridget Hartt). Documentary evidence of Amelia's parentage/heritage would be welcome.

When Bridget responded to the census takers about birthplace, she always said Ireland. She never said the town or county. So far I can't find anything on her parents. There are a lot of documents on line about the West Indies Rangers and there were several that said William arrived with his wife, Bridget, and her 2 children. I also descend from the first son, William M. Tomlinson, Jr and Amelia Wright. There are census forms on line that show that Amelia is the youngest child of James Wright (Loyalist) and his wife, Elizabeth. I don't know Elizabeth's surname...some fellow researchers think it might be Bubar but it hasn't been proven. According to the census forms posted on line, the children of James & Elizabeth Wright were:
Name Birth Year
John 1801
Elizabeth 1803
Hannah 1805
George 1808
Willa Maria 1812
James C. 1815
Charles 1816
Olive 1818
Mary Ann 1821
Amelia 1824
I descend from Amelia and James C.
