Gidney, Currie, McLean families
Looking for descendants of Margaret Gidney/Richard Estey Currie. They were my gggrandparents. Margaret Gidney's grandfather was Joshua Gidney, Loyalist soldier from Emerick's Chasseurs, came to Grand Lake in 1783/84, got a land grant at Maquapit Lake, Sunbury Co. Anyone researching these famlies, I would appreciate contact. Thanks

Re: Gidney, Currie, McLean families
I only have the info that Margaret Gidney married Richard Currie. Children were Mary Ann Sarah and Margaret. Sarah married John Allen McLean, my ggrandfather. Roots Web says R.E. Currie's father was David Currie and mother was Dorothy Estey. I'm very new at this, so tell me if this is something you already know. tnx

Re: Gidney, Currie, McLean families
I found a Joshua Gidney receiving a land grant in New Brunswick as part of Colonel William Spray's land grant. I found it somewhere on a New Brunswick Web site.
I am looking to connect my great anscester Charles D. Gidney, apparently a son of Charles D. Gidney and Lucy Gidney all from New Brunswick, and possibly from St. John. I have found them in the Houlton ME census of 1860 and in the Amity ME Census for 1880. I hope to establish a connection with a listing by a Kent Lister et al. with the Nevers, Birdsall, and Parker families. The problem is that names in the Census do not quite match and descendants are known to have been.

Re: Gidney, Currie, McLean families
Dear Grace: I wandered into the Sunbury board last week and found your posting of last Jan. I've been working on the 3 McLean families who settled in Queens County for some years now and have a fair amount of data. I am interested in your gg grandfather John Allan McLean born 21 april 1822 son of John McLean and Amy Goodwin ...marriedc to Sarah Ann Currie ... children are Adeline Terysa, Randolph, Lorenzo, Melissa Blanch, Sophia Adelaide and Lucinda Annetta.
While I have reasonable flow chart of McLeans and MacLeans , I am always interested in where folks went after they left Queens County. It appears that John Allan McLean moved to Boston and lived there until his death.
Let me know if I can help Peter D MacLean Colchester Vermont

Re: Gidney, Currie, McLean families
Hi,
I believe your Richard Estey Currey who married Margaret Gidney is the brother of my GGG Grandfather Daniel Currey who married Sarah Gidney.
Do you have Sarah Gidney listed as Margaret's sister?

Re: Gidney, Currie, McLean families
Hello! A surprise to get a posting after a couple of years. I've just looked at a photo copy of the Will of Joshua Currey, prepared in 1802. In it he lists his sons, Richard, David, Gilbert, Joshua, and Daniel, so you are so right!. I'll look further to see if I can find Margaret Gidney's sister or sisters. I know that Margaret married Richard Currey - I'm not certain that he was Richard Estey Currie. Cheers. Grace-Ellen

Tom,
Have you made your connection to the Gidney's yet? If not, I can help you. I have information on Charles Dean Gidney, his wife Lucy Nevers Gidney and their family.

Re: Gidney, Currie, McLean families
I know this is several years later...I am trying to trace back from John Strong McLean born 1798 In Addison, VT, moved to Jay, NY and died there 1898. This is my direct family. I am searching for John's father and mothers names. Assistance would be greatly appreciated. penny68682002@yahoo.com
