Cori,

I have been attempting to get a copy of "The History of Queens County, by E. Stone Wiggins, 1876". I have tried to source this book via Amazon and other book depositories, libraries etc but it is not available here in Australia or online. Any suggestions as to where I may be able to purchase a copy of this book. I am a direct descendant of William Orchard ( 2nd son of Robert Orchard and Lucretia Briggs), who married Alice Curtis Tarrant in Fitzroy (now Rockhampton) Queensland, Australia.

Thanks
Kathryn

You ( and everyone else ) will want to bookmark this book. It is full of info on Briggs / White / Orchard / Dykeman and other allied families. There's an attachment below... a page from the book that cites 1833 as the date of marriage for Lucretia and Robert.

@smconnors618. Thank you for the info - I have since purchased a copy of this book. The info is invaluable and I thank you for pointing me in the right direction. Do you know if there is a family Bible or church records that this info was originally sourced from, for the children's birth/christening/baptism's as I cannot find a primary source for William's birth/baptism? Unfortunately the info within this book regarding William's - (second son of Lucretia and Robert Orchard) family has several errors, however overall the book has filled in many blanks for me and I thank you for your assistance.

My details for William Briggs Orchard's family are as follows:

William Briggs Orchard (born May 1836, New Brunswick, died 4 Feb 1904 Brisbane, Queensland) married Alice Curtis Tarrant (born 1842 Mallow, County Cork, Ireland, died 1933 in Gordonvale, Queensland) married in Fitzroy (now Rockhampton) Queensland, Australia 12 Sept 1859. Their children were:

1. William Robert Hiram Richard Fitzroy Briggs Orchard 1861 – 1936
2. George Alfred Thomas Orchard 1862 – 1942
3. Alice Lucretia Ann Orchard 1868 – 1903
4. Henry Oswald Orchard 1871 – 1937
5. Emma Elizabeth White Orchard 1881 – 1968
6. Ethel Margaret Orchard 1883 – 1959

Sorry cousin Kathryn... I don't have any other info. I"m still trying to find it myself. My GGM was Iva Myrtle Orchard. She married into the Dykeman family. I never knew or met ANY of the Orchards and I know absolutely nothing about them other than what I've learned here and read in that book. I haven't even begun to search for baptismal records or anything yet. I'm still working on all of my other lines in Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York ,etc. This has been one of the hardest lines I've come across yet. I'll post whatever info I find back here. Are you on Facebook ?
If so you can contact me via Facebook @ Sharon Anthony Connors.

I found this link.... it has all kinds of resources for researching. I found Thomas's entry on the passenger list of the Amynta in 1833.

Here's a site for searching church / parish records.
