Hello Peter, Robert is part of my husband's tree, which I am just beginning to delve into. I have the names and birth dates of his children if you need them. Also, I have learned that one of his daughters (Alida) married Charles Tupper Knowlton who is on the maternal side of my hubby's family. Robert Jr. lived with them until he died.

Family lore has it that the first Ward to arrive in Canada had been a guard at Buckingham Palace who had fallen in love with one of the chamber maids or ladies in waiting. They were not allowed to marry, so emigrated to Canada to begin life together. I haven't found anything more about them, but think it might have been Robert Senior. I have a request in to the Pier 21 researchers to see if they can help.
