My name is Harry Selsor from Jacksonville Florida. My
ancestor Stephen Johnston b 9 Jun 1781 Ederny, Fermanagh Ireland
arrived Aug 1821 with Five children and wife Ann Armstrong in Saint
John, Queens Co New Brunswick. His 19 Dec 1822 land petition indicated
his land was in Gagetown. The Johnston clan were of
Scotch origins and received land in Ireland under William the Orange
(III) reign. Stephen was probably fourth of fifth generation from
original immigrants and born in Ireland.

A sixth child and third son Stephen Andrew was born there in Saint
John on 27 Apr 1825 according to his tombstone date and family history but Gagetown Anglican church show 27 Apr 1826 instead.

Other Children who were born Ireland and arrived with Stephen and Ann
were

1) Jane Johnston (my line) b 11 Oct 1808 Ederny Fermanagh Ireland,
baptised at Saint Marys Ardess church. She married in Saint John about
1826 to a James McGee and had four children there and left after the
fourth child Mary Ann was born in 4 Mar 1831 New Brunswick and went
with parents to Ohio in Jun 1831 (this line is my primary area for
research).
2) Sarah Johnston (aka Sally). b 11 Jan 1810 Ireland. MIght have
married a John Wilson but we have photos of a Mary Neal claiming to be
from Sally Johnston line..no further records on this couple. Sarah
Remained in New Brunswick we believe when her parents left but she
might have left later.
3) Anne Johnston b 26 Oct 1812 Ireland . might have married a McGee,
remained in New Brunswick, no further information avail
4) Christopher Johnston b 10 Jul 1814 Ireland, emigrated with his
parents in 1831 to Ohio
5) John Johnston b 22 Dec 1816 Ireland, emigrated with parents in 1831
to Ohio
and then in Canada
6) Stephen Andrew mentioned above b 1825 Saint John emigrated with
parents 1831 to Ohio


I know records were mainly church records at this time. The family
were Anglican or Presbyterian from Ireland (definitely protestant)_

Jane Johnston and James McGee were married in New Brunswick I am
guessing abt 1826 since first child born 1827 there.

James and Jane left about same time in Jun 1831 with Stephen Johnston
and wife Ann and three sons and went to Piqua, Miami County Ohio where
they initially settled.
