Hello,
I am looking for the parents of my 3rd ggrandparents, especially my ggggrandfather. Have hit a brick wall with him.
He was Frank (Francis) Martin, born 1833, he married in Chatham to Margaret Stapleton or Stapledon. These are the children i know he had:
1. Michael, born 1864
2. Catherine, born 1865 - my gggrandmother
3. Mary, born 1867
4. James, born 1869
year of births taken from their ages on the 1871 census for Chatham, Mirimichi
I know that Frank had the following brothers:
1. Mitchel
2. Michael
3. William
4. Joseph
5. James
But where were they all born???? Who were their parents???
I know their mother's name was Nancy because she is listed as living next door to my Frank on Pleasant n' Hill Street, Chatham and then in a later census' as living with Frank's brother, BUT it does not give her maiden name, she is a widow during both listings, i do know from her age at time of census she was born circa 1700 in N.B.
Problem: family says these Martins were Irish, most of the census records, all but one, say Irish or English, ONE census record lists Frank as French, the 1871 census lists Frank and Margaret's children as French.
I am desperate to know his origins, parents??????? HELP!!!!!
Added Note: Catherine or Katherine (have found her with both spellings was married to Frank Russell of Russellville, they were married in Chatham on 20 Sept. 1887, he was the son of William Goodfellow Russell and Mary Magdeleine Leggatt. Catherine and Frank Russell had one child, my ggrandmother Marguerite or as the records say Mary Margaretta, Catherine died shortly after Marguerite's birth and Frank Russell took her to be raised by her grandparents Frank and Margaret Martin. Marguerite married James Guimond/Jimmo and they lived in Escuminac. Frank Martin and his wife Margaret moved to Escuminac when Marguerite was 15 years old. I do not know what became of her father Frank Russell, she never saw him again, did he remarry???? If so i have not been able to find out, does anyone know????? Nancy, Frank's mother is listed with frank's brother in Escuminac, so he too moved there at some point, does this help? or serve to confuse?
