I am searching for Angus's McLeods parents. Angus was born in 1815 at Prince Edward Island. He married a Mary Marsh. They were living in New Brunswick when his son Angus was born in 1845. Angus married Jane Wood about 1873. I have been unable to find Angus and Jane's marriage record.

Re: Kouchibouguac - McLeod's
I find this marriage record highly confusing because an Angus Mcleod is shown marrying a Mary Marsh and a Mary Walsh both on the same day in Kouchibouguac. That suggests to me that Mary was probably a widow.
However, this Angus was not born in PEI but rather in Northumberland Co., NB about 1795, and was the son of John MacLeod and Jeannie McAlpine.

Re: Kouchibouguac - McLeod's
Thank you for responding to my message. I am excited to get this information. Now, I am confused. All census records I have found Angus was born 1815 at PEI. His daughter Elizabeth married a John Baldwin. Elizabeth's death record states that her mothers name was Mary Marsh. Also, census records show that Angus born in 1845 his father was born 1815 at PEI. If I could find Angus McLeod born in 1845 marriage to Jane Wood, I could know for sure who his parents are. Could you tell me where you found this information? Could I see a copy of this marriage record? What was the date? Could this have been 2 different Angus's that married on the same day? Again, thank you, Elizabeth

Re: Kouchibouguac - McLeod's
I see that this was posted back in 2012...I hope that you will pick up this thread. I am new to this site but am beginning research into my mother's family history. She passed away last July 2015 at the age of 95! She was Violet Jane McLeod-Maki. Her father was George Frank McLeod, son of Angus McLeod and Jane Wood. Her mother was Emeila Natale Cavaiani. My mother was born in Iron Mountain, Michigan where Angus and Jane had moved with their children to work in the mines. My Mother was named after her Aunt, Jessie Violet McLeod and her Grandmother, Jane Wood. My Grandfathter, George Frank McLeod died when my Mom was only 13 years old due to an infection following a simple operation. I do not know much about the McLeod history. I was told by my Mom before she passed that Jane Wood was a member of the First Nation, but did not know what tribe she was from. Any information or clarification would be greatly appreciated! Thank you, Maria

Re: Kouchibouguac - McLeod's
Know Iron Mt. well.
The Angus MacLeod who married Jane Wood was the son of Angus MacLeod and Mary Walsh. (I posted something different earlier but after some additional research, discovered some added information.) Not much else that I can help you with I'm afraid.

Re: Kouchibouguac - McLeod's
Thanks for responding. We buried my Mother last October at the McLeod Family Plot in Iron Mountain along side Angus McLeod and Jane Wood and their sons, G. Frank and David, as well our Grandmother, Emelia and my Aunt and Uncle-Shirley and Roy Conta and my Dad-William O. Maki. I know more about our family's Italian Heritage from the Cavaiani Side and have a good history of our Finnish heritage back to the Old Country. Still hoping to learn more about Jane Wood and the First Nation reference from my Mom. In researching the Kouchibouguac area, it seems there is a population of Mic-Mac's. Maybe a trip to New Brunswick is in my future!
So, are we related? Thanks, Maria
