Surnames: McEachern, Hanson, Hansen
Looking for a connection to the folowing family:

Bridget McEachern b. July 18, 1882/83 Newcastle.

I beleive her parents may have been William McEachern & Janet Drummond but I don't have any solid evidence. Her marriage register does not provide the parents names. There is a Mary McEachern as a witness. Bridget married George Hansen(on) a widower [beleived to have been married to Catherine Webb previously] on October 22, 1906 in Moncton, NB.

On the 1911 census Bridget and George Hanson are shown living next door to William & Mary McEachern in Newcastle.

George & Bridget had 7 children:
Margaret Bertha, Mary Florence Ellen, Cecile, Doris Catherine, Mildred "Millie", Hudson, Ralph.

I have forwarded your query to Jim Allen of NYC,NY who has done much more research on our McEacherns than I have. You can read some of my line history on The Island Register from PEI.I was born in Chatham,NB,the town across the river and farther east than Newcastle, all of which is now called Miramichi City.

Bridget McEachern (b. ca. 1883) was the adopted daughter of John (ca. 1867) Drummond. Also with them was John's sister, Mary A. Drummond (ca. 1869.) They were in Derby Parish, Northumberland Co., NB in 1891. John A. (ca. 1865) and Mary Ann (ca. 1868) Drummond were children of John (ca. 1837) and Jane (ca. 1835) Drummond in Derby Parish in 1881. Also in Derby Parish, in 1881, were the family of John 'McEachron' (b. PEI ca. 1818) and his wife, Mary (b. Ireland ca. 1825.) Their children were: Thos (23), John (21), Edward (19), Malcolm (17) and Annie (14.)

This at least suggests a connection between the Drummond's and McEachern's.

Well I too have a Bridget MacEachern. She was Bridget Beatrice MacEachern (b 1881). And she was the daughter of William MacEachern and Janet Drummond. Janet died in 1883 and in 1885 William married Mary Brennan. Janet had a sister Mary and a brother John so I thought that maybe my Bridget went to live with them since she was so young when her mother died. My Janet is the granddaughter of William Drummond and Janet Steel. Also, my Bridget married George B. Hanson. I thought maybe your Bridget was my Bridget but maybe not.

There were only two Steel families in the early censuses-my John and also David Steel. I have never been able to connect the two. David came from Dumfries and also and I just found a deed for him in Napan which states he was from Newcastle parish. Records also show one of John's daughter's being born in Douglastown, Newcastle parish. Now, I'm starting to wonder if they may both be connected to Janet Steel Drummond. Both had daughters named Janet although John's daughter shows as Jeannette in records.
David came to NB about 1819, I believe while John came around 1830.
