Fred Grivois & Alice are my Great Grand Parents. My Grand Mother is Constance Fortin(Grivois) their Daughter. I was thinking when I am up to Van Buren this summer hitting her up with some more family information about Fred & Alice and their parents/kids etc to help with finding information of my lineage. Going to try to get copies of pictures, etc..

Re: Eva Madore, parents Ferdinand Madore and Emilie Violette

Wow! Thank you so much, thomasmurray1. This is extremely helpful information that I'll be processing this morning.

Eva Madore was maternal grandmother to my ex-husband (with whom I'm still on good terms). We knew that she'd married ? Grondin (thank you for their marriage info). M. Grondin ended up in an insane asylum and while he was there, Eva began a relationship with Louis St Onge with whom she had at least 12 children. Louis had already had 11 children with his first wife Annie Desrosiers (who is also called 'Fortunat' by family). Perhaps you are correct that this is a nick name.

The Violet (aka Violette) family in Canada goes back to Charles Francois Violette who was born in 1716 in France. He settled in Louisbourg, Nova Scotia at an unfortunate time and ended up being deported back to France after the Siege of Louisbourg in 1758 (it is believed that three of his children with his 2nd wife were killed during the battle). Charles' eldest son Francois either left with him & returned to Canada at some point or managed to escape and hide out ... in 1770 he married Marie-Luce Thibodeau in Ecoupag, New Brunswick.

Re: Eva Madore, parents Ferdinand Madore and Emilie Violette

According to his death registration, Ferdinand Madore was b. Baker (Boker?) Brook, Madawaska Co., NB 31AUG1873, and died there 18JUL1953 age 79 years, 10 months and 18 days. His wife was Emelie Violette, his parents were Octave and Celeste (Quimonde?) Madore and the informant was his son, 'Frederic' Madore. Octave was also from Baker Brook and Celeste was from Ste.-Luce, USA.
Ferdinand Madore (17) was in St.-Hilaire Parish, Madawaska Co., NB in the 1891 census. There were, nearby, several members of a Baker family, including 'Enock' S. Baker (ca. 1819) from the US. Presumably this was Baker Brook. His father was Octave Madore (62) b. Canada (i.e., Quebec?), and his mother was Celeste Guimond (59) b. NB. Siblings were Hilaire (20) and Salomé (24).
Octave (52) and Céleste (59; probably should be 49) 'Mador' had a much larger family in St.-Hilaire Parish in 1881. He was b. 'Q' (Quebec) and she and the children were b. NB. Children were: Octave (24), Anastasia (22), Aleime (?) (son, 20), 'Isäc' (18), Joseph (15), Salomé (14), Hilaire (11) and Ferdinand (8).
In 1871, in St. Francis (St.-François) Parish, in what was then Victoria Co., NB, the surname has been transcribed as 'Malor'. Octave (39) and 'Sellis' (39) had children: 'Fline' (?) (daughter, 20), Octave (13), 'Anertanre' (?, Anastasie?) (daughter, 12), Outrin (Outrim?) (son, 10), Eugie (son, 9), Joseph (8), 'Salamis' (4) and 'Helare' (1).
In St.-François Parish in 1851 Octave 'Maddore' (36) is indicated as having arrived in NB in 1838. He and Celeste (23) had a daughter, Flavia (2).
I think Octave is the Octave Madore who d. St. Hilaire 22JUL1901 age 72 years. In Ste.-Hilaire Parish in 1901, Octave was b. 15APR1829, Celeste was b. 16NOV1830 and Ferdinand was b. 1OCT1874; but the dates in that census are not reliable.

In her registration 'Emilia (Violet) Madore' was b. Eagle Lake, ME 13FEB1888, d. 'Baker-Brook' 26MAR1950 age 62 years, 1 month and 12 days, and was a daughter of Simon and Edith (Langlois) 'Violet'. Her husband was 'Fortunat' Madore. this based on information from her son, Frédéric Madore. Frédéric also gave his parents as Fortunat and Emélia (Violette) Madore when he married Edmunston 3SEP1947 Colette Nadeau. Interestingly, Marie Eva Madore (b. Baker Brook ca. 1909) when she m. 'St. Hilaire', Madawaska Co., NB 4OCT1927 Joseph-Thaddeé Grondin, also gave her parents as Fortunat and Emilia (Violette) Madore. Although, as in the census returns above, he is consistently a variation of Ferdinand, perhaps Fortunat was a nick-name?

Simon and Edith ('Langlais') Violette did exist. A daughter (unnamed) married Fort Kent, Aroostook Co., ME 1901 _____ 'Dechene', s/o Joseph and Sophie (Boutot (Bulotte?)) Dechene. Simon may have been the same b. ca. 1853 in Aroostook Co., in 1860. There was also a Simon b. ca. 1834. The 1853 Simon seems to be the right one, and he is also given a Simon Luc Violette b. ca. 1853, d. Fort Kent 8JAN1925, s/o Luc and Anthemise (Pelletier) Violette; and to have m. Edith Langlais (b. Eagle Lake ca. 1852), d/o Francois and Anthemise (Gagnon) Langlais. Another daughter was Dorimine Violette b. ca. 1870, m. Andre Deschenes (b. ca. 1869). Another daughter was Edith Violette (27DEC1886-1APR1928), m. Denis Cyr. There was no mention of Emélie. Dorimine is really questionable as Simon-Luc Violette and edith Langlois were m. St. Louis (church?), Fort Kent, Aroostook Co., ME 15APR1883.

Ferdinand (OCT1873) and Emélie (MAR1886) Madore are in St.-Hilaire Parish, Madawaska Co., NB in 1911. A daughter was Eva (JUL1910). Ferdinand's mother was Céleste Madore (NOV1837).

Thomas
The baptism record which I've attached to this message (St Georges, St Hilaire, Madawaska) for Eva Madore states she was born 9 Jul 1909 (baptised same day) to parents Ferdinand Madore and Emilie Violette.

I have been unable to find this couple on the 1911 census, either in New Brunswick or in Maine (which is where Emilie's uncle Frederick Violette was born).

Through familysearch.org, I did find the birth and death of Ferdinand and Emilie's infant daughter Irene Alma (Jul & Oct 1920) in St Hilaire, New Brunswick.

Does anyone have info on Ferdinand or Emilie?

Re: Telesphore Lizotte and Dermiene Lange

In 1911, in Ledges and Clair Parishes, Madawaska Co., NB, Télesphore Lizotte was b. SEP1885 and his wife, Dorimène, was b. FEB1894. They lived next to Damase (AUG1855) and Pressille (JAN860) Lizotte and family who may well be Télesphore's parents and siblings. Télesphore and Dorimène do not seem to have any children at the time. I find no birth records for children, and suspect that such children may have been born in Maine.

Germaine Dorumène Long (?) is said to have been b. Fort Kent (Aroostook Co.,?), Maine, or at least baptized there. She m. Télesphore 18JUL1910 in Clair Parish, although I have yet to find the marriage record. She d. Ste-Anne de Madawaska 21OCT1936 and was the daughter of Octave and Marcelline (Soucy) Long. Télesphore is given as b. St-François de Madawaska 4SEP1885 and d. 10AUG1981.

Marie Germaine Lizotte b. Clair Parish 22FEB1894, d. Ste-Anne de Madawaska 21OCT1936 age 42 years and 8 months. Her husband was Telesphore Lizotte and her father was Thomas Lang. Thomas and Marcelline (Soucy) Lang lived in Clair Parish. He is also Octave Lang b. ca. 1869, m. St-François Parish 12JUL1890 Marcelline Soucy (b. ca. 1872), d/o Fabien and Anastasie (Guimond) Soucy. Octave was the s/o Octave and Arthemise (Pelletier) Lang.

In 'St. Francis' Parish, in what was then Victoria Co., 'Tomas Lisotte' (b. 12AUG1867?) and his wife, 'Précille' (b. 9JAN1860) had a son, 'Thelesphor' (b. 4SEP1885.) A birth record for one of their sons, Joseph Adelard Norbert Lizotte, makes the parents to be Damase and Prescille (Bouchard) Lizotte. Damase's death registration has him b. 12AUG1857 and d. Madawaska Co., NB 13MAY1933 age 75 years and 8 months. He died in a drowning accident ("noyade accidentelle".) His parents were Pierre and Marcelline (Garneau) Lizotte from Quebec, although he was b. in NB. Elsewhere, his mother is given as Marcelline Nadeau.

Priscille Bouchard is said to be the d/o David and Salomee (Bourgoin) Bouchard at:
http://gw3.geneanet.org/michelle4?lang=fr;p=priscille;n=bouc...
See also:
http://www.nosorigines.qc.ca/GenealogieQuebec.aspx?genealogy...
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op...

Thomas
Evidently a priest by the name of Rev. Ernest land compiled all the records. Let me know if you need any lookups.
Terrie

Hi Natalie,
Since first posting my query I have found many details about Fred. I found his birth certificate, which I have attached. I have also discovered that Fred and his first wife Azelie (or Azalie) had 6 children together between 1910 and 1917. Azalie died in 1919 from pneumonia. The story I had of Fred being adopted is obviously wrong and I believe someone was confused and meant to say that his children were put up for adoption, like you mentioned your father was. I also found out that his name is actually Alfred and not Frederick. Do you have a date for Alfred, Clifford's brother? I believe he would have been born June 2nd, 1916. I hope this helps if you like you can contact me by email at cyrjessica@hotmail.com.
Jessica Grivois Cyr

Hi Casey

My name is Cherylann Deprey and Felix was my greatgrandfather. I have all the information you need. Your grandmother Rita and my grandfather Maurice were brother and sister. My father's name is Alton and he is the son of Maurice. Your grandmother "Rita" was born in Fort Kent Maine. I know your grandfather "Lorenzo" he actually lives down the street from me on South Main Street, next to Rita's sister Viola and brother Louis "Phil". Send me an email of exactly what you are looking for and I will give you all of the information I have. Better yet, if you send me your email I will send you an invite to my Ancestry.com family tree, which brings the deprey all the way back to the 1500's in France. And did you know that at one time we spelled our last name "Despres"? The Deprey side has quite a history from Main, Canada and France. My email address is cherylandjames04@att.net. Hope to hear from you. Your cousin Cherylann Deprey

I have a dozen or so Ouellette Names in my family. They range from 6th to 10th great grandparents. I too am searching for my Mi'kmaq Maliseet ancestors. I have found several but your post may help me down different lines. I did not know my fathers family. He left Maine to get away from his father who was abusive. He only told me before his death in 1999 that they had hidden the truth about our ancestry and that I should try to learn all I could about it. I would Like to hear from you and see if maybe we can figure out this branch of the tree. Scott

Hi, I’m Nathalie Scott from Qc, Canada, I’m researching my SCOTT ancestors.
My g-g-grandfather was:
THOMAS SCOTT, born in Feb 1860 in Salisbury, Westmoreland, New Brunswick, Canada.
He was married to Edith Moreau. Like his father he has worked for railroad and later tramway companies all he’s life. He died in May 1931 in Montreal Qc, Canada
His father was:
HENRY ALBERT SCOTT born in 1831 in Cheshire England (according to his death certificate)
He was married to Ellen Walton in 1855 in New Brunswick, they had 7 children before she died in 1880. In 1881 he married her sister Mary Walton. He worked for the railway as far as can go back. He died in 1888 in Ste-Ann Madawaska, New-Brunswick, Canada.

I can’t find he’s birth record, nor the name of his parents, or any siblings, can anybody help me in my research. Any info on this SCOTT lineage would be appreciated.

Regards

Nathalie Scott
nathaliescott@videotron.ca

Anglican Church Cemetery - Edmundston

Am not familiar with resources for this area.

Can someone tell me if there is an on-line transcription of this cemetery somewhere? Am looking for BURPEE family members. According to the death notice of Samuel BURPEE, first mayor of Edmundston in 1905, this is where he was buried and I am trying to find out if other family members are there also and when they died.

Thanks in advance,
Nanci Graves
