I am looking for information on the marriage of Felix Levasseur and Odelie Berube. They are my great grandparents, their youngest son being my grandfather (John Baptiste). I have found their names (I believe it's them) in the 1901 census records for Madawaska, NB and a listing of their children. But their marriage date and parent's names are still eluding me. John Baptiste was born on July 8, 1899 and he married Rose Bouffard in Sanford, ME on April 11, 1921. John's parents were listed as Felix Levasseur and Odela Beaube but I think her name was butchered and should be Berube (although I am not 100% sure of this). In the 1901 census record, her name was Odelie. If you find any information on them, please let me know.

Thank you

The closest marriage in the Lang genealogy book is this one:

Joseph LEVASSEUR (Jules & Julie FRANCOEUR) m. Claudia BERUBE (Hyacinthe & Salomine MICHAUD) on Apr 4 1883 at St. David, ME.

There is nothing else even close.

Hi Christine,
I'm interested in whatever you can find out about the Devost family who lived in Ste. Anne de Madawaska.
My grandfather was Maxime Devost who died May 7 1962 in Hôtel Dieu Hospital in Edmundston, butied at Ste. Anne. He was 88 years and 4 months.
His wife, my grandmother was Léocadie Martin. She also died at the hospital at the age of 64 on October 30, 1947, buried at Ste. Anne also.
I know very little about the Martin side of the family.
Where can I get this genealogy book??
Thank you foe any information you can give me.
Sincerely,
Maureen. medevoe@hotmail.com

Do you have any reference to an Hermangilde Roy, who may changed his name to Archie King, married to a wife Sophia? Christine:

I'm looking for a marriage between a Joseph Fournier and Mary Angela (probably Angele or Angelique), probably between 1820 and 1836, but possibly up to 1851. They signed a marriage certificate in 1852 in Illinois for their daughter Mary Octavia (probable Octavie), but this does not prove that Mary Angela was her biological mother. What I actually want is to trace Mary Octavia's biological mother.

A Joseph and M__ Fournier lived in the same town in Illinois in 1850, without Mary. This Joseph was 50 years old in 1850 (probably approximate), and M_ was 45.

Mary might possibly have been living with two younger siblings with another family in Matawaska, and she certainly isn't anyplace else in two countries. Mary Octavia Fournier was born around 1833 to 1836 in Canada, and possibly on May 1, 1833.

I suspect that this family belonged to a clan of Fournier's who lived in Matawaska, St-David adn St-Basile parishes. There was a Joseph living in the neighborhood of the Mataswasca or whatever River the right age and struggling socioeconomic status, and the Joseph of each place followed Basile Fournier, who actually was in both places, around by the tail, even though this Basile allegedly had no brother named Joseph. Maybe they were cousins. The only other Fournier to live in that part of Illinois in the right time period was a distant cousin of Basile's.

If your book happens to verify the parentage of Mary Octavia Fournier into the bargain, and even provide her some siblings, that would be Cowabunga!

Thank you very much. :)

Yours,
Dora Smith

I left out the fact that Joseph of the Matawasca area had a wife and three children under five in 1830, meaning this man, if he was the same one, may have married around 1825. That Joseph was between 20 and 30 years old in 1830. Joseph Fournier of Illinois in 1850 was 50 that year. Mary Octavia was not born until 1833 to 1836.

Also, they apparently lived in the section of land that changed countries, which appears to be what your book covers. In 1840 Joseph and some of his neighbors appeared in the Maine, U.S., census without having moved. But by 1850 they'd all vanished back to Canada, again without moving.

Yours,
Dora Smith

Christine:

I hope the offer is still open to do look-ups.

I am looking for the marriage of William Graves to Sarah ? (possibly Everett). In the 1870 U. S. Census they are living in Presque Isle, Maine. Claiming that they were born in New Brunswick. In this census William is 45, which would put his date of birth about 1825. Sarah is 38, so her DOB would be about 1832. Their oldest child on the census is 16, which would put their marriage date around 1854, if Susan is indeed their oldest child. I would date the marriage between 1850 and 1854, which would put William's age between 25 and 29.

Susan married George Cyr in Presque Isle, Maine about 1842.

I would like to know the date of the marriage of George and Susan. It would be great if the records showed the marriage and date for William and Sarah and a confirmation of Sarah's maiden name.

Thanks in advance for all the help.
