What you have is the Moody family beginning in North America with Joseph and Johanna Moody. If Joseph was b. Ireland, and arrived about 1827, then he likely did so a single, young man and probably alone. I seem to recall that there was also an Alexander Moody at one time in Kings Co.; so the question is, did Joseph come alone? A John Moody b. Ireland ca. 1814 was in Sussex Parish, Kings Co., NB in 1851; married with children (including a Joseph b. ca. 1844.) John arrived 1832. A younger brother?
Also, there is the question, where in Ireland did he come from, and who were his parents? Actually, I would leave those questions and simply begin with Joseph. The next question is what was Johanna's maiden name? She was b. NB, possibly Kings Co., and possibly she is the only Moody buried in Titus Hill Cem. because she is buried with her family. This might be worth following up on. Johanna, Jr. was b. ca. 1832, so Joseph and Johanna, Sr. were m. between 1827 and 1832, probably about 1830, probably in Kings Co., or Saint John Co. The marriage registers for those counties are on microfilm at the Provincial Archives. It should be possible to determine her maiden name, and make some shrewd guesses as to her parentage.
Another step is, perhaps, determining who their children were, and what happened to them. A marriage bond for Joseph Moody, Jr, indicates he m. 1874 Jane Robinson. Birth records for their children give that she was, in fact, Hannah Jane Robertson (not the first time Robinson and Robertson have been interchanged.) The 1901 census gives her as Jane, so she went by her middle name.
So, we have:
JOSEPH MOODY b. Ireland ca. 1806, m. 1st JOHANNA _____ (b. NB ca. 1806, d. 15AUG1857 age 50 years, bur. Titus Hill Cem., Titusville, Hampton Parish, Kings Co., NB); m. 2nd LYDIA _____ (b. NB ca. 1815.)
children:
1st
5. JOSEPH MOODY b. 17JAN1841, m. 1874 HANNAH JANE ROBERTSON (b. 6FEB1851)
children:
51. ETHEL KATHLEEN MOODY b. Passekeag, Kings Co., NB 17APR1876, d. Kings Co., NB 20OCT1954
52. IRA D. S. MOODY b. ca. 1879
53. DWIGHT S. MOODY b. ca. 1880
54. GARNET W. MOODY b. 30APR1882
55. GORDON MOODY b. Passekeag, Kings Co., NB 23JAN1885
56. OSCAR W. MOODY b. 23JAN1885
57. ROY R. MOODY b. 4FEB1890
58. VERA GLADYS MOODY b. Passekeag, Kings Co., NB 5FEB1894
which may, or may not, be all of Joseph, Jr.'s children. This is on-line stuff, and relatively easy. The next step is to slog through the census returns for 1861, 1871 and 1891 on microfilm at the National Archives of Canada, available through inter-library loan; sometimes libraries already have them. Then, from the PANB, there are probate records, marriage registers, sometimes church records and headstone inscriptions, land records, etc. Check the county guide for Kings Co. at the PANB web site.
That's if that is what you want to do.
At the least, begin with your immediate family. Write down what you know, or guess (and differentiate clearly between the two), ask questions, get stories (and remember they may be incorrect), compile a genealogy, contact cousins, consult with experienced genealogists, and try every trick you can think of. Names and dates are relatively simple in most cases, it's getting the story that's hard; but eventually, one will emerge.
It may be that you are only interested in your own lineal ancestors. So, where you go from here depends on the question, what do you want to know?
