Looking for an old photo of the Catholic Church in Philmunroe. It was sold to the ski club in 1963 and burnt down in 1972

Regards

I was unable to find a photo of the church. By the way, it is PHILAMUNROE, with an "A". The best I could get is the cemetery and what looks like the rock foundation.
I have the grave stones transcriptions so if you tell me the names you need, I can give them to you. Someone has recently "cleaned up " the cemetery with heavy equipment so some stones may have been lost in the process.
I can tell you that it was a small community so it is very likely that the church was a simple rectangular building with a regular pitched roof, door in the middle of one end and windows down the sides. That was the common plan. There "may" have been a steeple.
I hope this helps,
Suzanne Carter

Thanks Suzanne, for your reply

I left out the "A" by mistake. It is actually spelled Filamonroe on the origional land grant maps (also called Foster's Croft at one time). I have found a photo online for the Catholic church that was used in Waterford, I have read that this church was built around 1910. Before this date the church at Philamunroe was used; it was being used in 1862 as it was shown on Wallings 1862 map. I do not know if the old bulding was still standing after the community died. If it was I was hoping somebody may have a photo of it.

I think it was the Waterford location that was sold to the ski club because it was located near Poly Mountain.

Regards
Mike

The Church that Poley Mountain used was the Catholic church that is between the turn off to Poley and the next house that currently sits on the right side - It was a RC church. I have a photo on Facebook of this church. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152403296480289&am... its Waterford Parish, Kings Co., New Brunswick Genealogy https://www.facebook.com/groups/38039824652/

Hi Suzanne,

Saw your posting just now. Do you have any transcriptions for the surnames Danahy, McKenna or Murphy. Any info would really be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Susan

What are you looking for with the Danahy, McKenna or Murphy's?

My great-grandparents were Timothy and Julia (Danahy) Murphy. They are buried in Ward's Creek Cemetery. There were several of their children that I can't seem to locate. The same goes for members of the Danahy family. John and Ann (McKenna) Danahy were my great-great-grand parents. I think they are in Ward's Creek as well, but there are many children (other than those who went to U.S.) unaccounted for. John and Cecilia (unknown) McKenna (ggg-grandparents) are supposed to be buried in Philamunroe Cemetery, but I cannot find records online and don't know how to obtain such.

Any help you can provide is much appreciated.

Don't have any burial records, but the only name you mentioned that is found on any surviving (as of 1994) tombstones is Timothy Murphy who died Dec. 15, 1870, aged 67 years.

Thanks, but it's the wrong Timothy Murphy. My great-grandfather Timothy Murphy, was born in USA in 1854 and died in 1931. He is buried in Ward's Creek RC Cemetery.
