Re: Amanda Jane FOWLER b. 1840 - WHO WERE HER PARENTS?
I have the 1851 census for Kings County, NB. I found six-year-old William John Giggey with his family, living in Kingston, Kings Co., NB:
James E. GIGGEY, age 33, British ethnic origin, Woodboatman, born NB, Loyalist (I guess he's descended from one) Emma, wife, age 30, British, born NB Amelia, daughter, age 8 William J., son, age 6 Sarah J., daughter, age 4 Charlotte A., daughter, age 2 James F., son, infant. All children born NB
In the same parish are John Giggey and wife Rebecca and their 10 children.
The LDS IGI says Amanda James Fowler, daughter of James Fowler and Elizabeth Ann Belding, married William John Giggey. No, that middle name is NOT a mistake. That's what it said. I found James Fowler and wife Elizabeth and their family in the 1851 census for the parish of Hampton, Kings Co., NB, but they had no daughter Amanda James. They did have a daughter MIRANDA, who would be about the right age.
James FOWLER, age 40, Farmer, born NB Elizabeth, wife, age 42, born NB Sarah, daughter, age 16 Margaret, daughter, age 12 Miranda, daughter, age 10 Matilda, daughter, age 7 John A., son, age 5 Mary, daughter, age 2 Henrietta, daughter, age 4 months Matthew Scullion, servant, age 14 Thomas Donally, servant, age 5.
The LDS IGI says James Fowler and Elizabeth Ann Belding were married on June 30, 1834 in Kings Co., NB

Re: Amanda Jane FOWLER b. 1840 - WHO WERE HER PARENTS?
Susan.... it looks like you could be right! There is abt 4 years difference in age between Amanda and William J... and the census is notorious for inaccuracies - I could see how Miranda should have been Amanda... now to verify. According to Amanda's marriage record, her middle name was "Jane". Thank you so much for your help.

Re: Amanda Jane FOWLER b. 1840 - WHO WERE HER PARENTS?
In the 1861 census of Hampton Parish (‘North West of the Hammond River’), Kings Co., NB were James (50) and Elizabeth (52) Fowler with children Amanda J. (20), John H. (14) and Mary B. (12) Fowler. Either next door or in the same household were a widow, ‘Margret’ Watson (75) and a Charles Nash (14). Margaret is indicated as ‘Mother’, and if she was in the same household would likely be Elizabeth’s mother. This seems to be the same family as in 1851, therefore Amanda J. is necessarily Miranda in 1851. The online transcription of the 1851 census suggests that she was ‘Mniender?’. To me it looks like ‘Mneinda’. The presence of the Bull family, in 1851, suggests French Village. In a death record, Amanda Jane Giggey d. Whitehead, Kingston Parish, Kings Co., NB 19DEC1893 age 52 years, 11 months and 24 days. She was born in French Village, Hampton Parish, Kings Co., NB. Her age suggests that she was b. ca. 26DEC1840 give or take a day. In Hampton Parish in 1871, James (59) and Elizabeth (61) Fowler have John A. (23) and Maggie (20). A grandson appears to be James Campbell (6). In Hampton Parish, in 1881, James (69) Fowler is a widower and his son, John (36) has a wife, Martha (40). Next door lived James E. Giggey (64) with a wife, Emma (61) and children Hudson N. (23) and Trafalgar L. (21). Hudson Nile Giggey (26NOV1855-25JUN1938), of French Village, was a son of James Edward and Emily (Mullin) Giggey when he married. Given that ‘Miranda’ was Amanda Jane, then, of her siblings, John A. (b. ca. 1846) may be John Albert Fowler who m. Martha Elizabeth Darling and was living in French Village in 1875. In Hampton Parish in 1901 John A. Fowler was b. 3JUN1847. In 1911 he was b. JUN1846, slightly more probable. Martha Elizabeth (Darling) Fowler was a widow when she died in French Village 6FEB1923. I can find nothing for Sarah. I can find nothing for Margaret b. ca. 1839 or Maggie b. ca. 1851. Matilda J. Fowler, of Hampton Parish, m. 27DEC1870 George Campbell. Considering she was not immediately evident in 1861, it seems improbable that this was the same Matilda. George (44) and Matilda (34) Campbell were in Hampton Parish in 1871. It seems improbable that Matilda b. ca. 1844 in 1851 was Matilda b. ca. 1837 in 1871. I cannot find anything for Mary B. or Henrietta either. There was a Henrietta Amanda Fowler married to Joseph Henry Dickson and living in Norton Parish. In 1901 she is ‘Henneretta’ Dixon (22APR1852) living in Hampton Parish. However Henrietta A. Fowler who m. 20NOV1872 J. Henry Dixon was the d/o H. B. Fowler.
