geneology/j. Wiley/Thurrott
Hi, my name is Suzanne J. Thurrott. I live in Malden, Ma. and if you want some information on the Thurrott family I can supply some formation. My Dad was George Isaac Thurrott born in Stewiake, Nova Scotia in 1902,his father was Frederick Thurrott, born in Moncton or Fredrickton New Brunswick. His mother was Elizabeth Smith, I believe she was from Stewiacke,N.S. I have a lot of info from Nancy Thurrott from Connecticut. I'm sure she can suppy a lot more information because she was working on this in the 1980's. As for the name Cameron< I believe my Uncle Angus's wife's maiden name was Cameron and her family came from Scotland. I can't remember her first name. They also lived in Stewiake, N.S.
Well, that's all I can supply for now . I hope I helped in some way.
Yours Truly,
Suzanne Joy Thurrott

Re: geneology/j. Wiley/Thurrott
You have posted to the wrong board. Moncton is in Westmorland County and Fredericton is in York Co. Nova Scotia is a different province altogether. You should post to the Nova Scotia Board and above mentioned counties. You didn't mention what Gushue you were looking for but in case you are interested, that name is found in Newfoundland.

Re: geneology/j. Wiley/Thurrott
But the Thurrott's came from Scotland to Kent County and then moved on to other areas of North America.

Re: geneology/j. Wiley/Thurrott
While searching rootsweb N.B> Kent early marriages, I came across this marriage:AgnesThurrott married William Cochrane in Richibucto on Aug. 25, 1837. I searched all censuses etc. listed on this site and this was the only Thurrott I noticed. Hope this is of some help to you. Someone else is interested in this family and has posted on this board.

James Wiley was my Great Grandfather. He married Margaret Thurrott in 1855 at Weldford parish, Kent County. Margaret was the daughter of James Thurrott who migrated to Kent County, Ca. abt.1837 with his children from a former marriage. There are a number of Thurrott's buried in the West Branch Cem. in Kent County. I have other info. that I would be happy to share with you vie e-mail if you are interested.

Re: geneology/j. Wiley/Thurrott
I read your reply with great interest. All the names and dates are the same as those in my data base except for James Thurrott's wife. I have an IGA birth record for Agnes that states that Agnes Thorrat was born on Oct. 6, 1820 in Rerrick Kirkcudbright, Scotland, the parents are listed as James Thorrat and Jean Cummin. I believe that James Thorrat(Thurrott) b: 1784 married Jane Kollock after arriving in NB,Canada in the late1820's.
I would appreciate knowing your source so that I may further research this discrepency.
Thanks, Jim Thurrott

Re: geneology/j. Wiley/Thurrott
I also have information on the Thurotts of Westbranch, Kent County, New Brunswick. It is from a family history book called Westbranch Days from my husbands side. If anyone would like this info contact me and I will make arrangements to send it to you. James Thurott had two wives named Jane. One stayed in Scotland and the other he married in New Brunswick. He brought with him from Scotland a son John and a daughter Agnes. After remarrying. He named another daughter Agnes and another son John in this marriage. See how this can be confusing?? Anyone have information on the James Walker Family from same place???

Re: geneology/j. Wiley/Thurrott
I would love more information on James Thurrott and his two wives and family. I am a descendant of John Thurrott and Mary Morton. I'm sure my John would be from James's first wife, because he was born in 1811 in Scotland. From everything I can gather, his mother was Jean Cummin - and the other children that I have for James Thurrott and Jean Cummin - all born in Kirkcudbrightshire are: Janet, Elizabeth and Agnes. I can find the baptism records for the girls on the IGI website, but I can't find John's.
As for Agnes marrying William Cochrane, I'm sure it would have to be the Agnes from James' first wife. Agnes and William were married in 1837 - James came to Canada with his children sometime between 1824-1828 - an Agnes from his second marriage would have been way to young to marry in 1837.

Re: geneology/j. Wiley/Thurrott
Hi Suzanne,
I am trying to find the correct George Thurrott who was married to Edith C. McPherson and had a child, my grandmother, Shirley in 1926. Edith C. McPherson listed George Thurott as her spouse when she died on 24 Nov 2000. My mother said that her grandfather, George Thurrott was an auto mechanic who worked on race cars and was from Nova Scotia and the family was from Scotland. Do you have any connection to this George?
Thanks in advance for any information that you can help me with. Sandy
