Actually, John Morton m. 2nd Nicholas River, Kent Co., NB 22MAY1863 Agnes Thorrat. His first marriage at Nicholas River was 23APR1849. The 1861 census of Weldford Parish, Kent Co., NB shows John Morton (31) living next to John Thompson (27), John’s siblings and mother, Sarah Thompson (57, apparently b. Co. Tyrone, Ireland). The marriage status of these persons is not stated. However, John Morton has children, Mary ‘Mcmicle’ (12), George Henry (3) and Ann Lucinda (11 months). These census returns were generally enumerated about April, so I would guess that Ann Lucinda, Jr. was b. ca. MAY1860. She is said to have m. Joseph Clare. At:
http://archives.gnb.ca/Search/NewspaperVitalStats/Details.as...she was the wife of Asa Clare of Harcourt Parish in 1892. However, in the 1891 census of Harcourt Parish, Ann L. (30) is the wife of Joseph M. Clare (48) and had children Lavina M. (10), Isaac Parker (8), John J. (7), Jane M. (4), Robert J. (6), Thos. T. (2) and Lucinda M. (6 months). Joseph (4SEP1842) and Lucinda (10FEB1861) Clare are in the City of Moncton in 1901. Since Ann Lucinda was age 11 months in 1861 I assume that her date-of-birth, in 1901 is (at least as far as the year, as it often is in that census) incorrect. Joseph may be Joseph ‘Mophet’ Clare b. 4SEP1842, s/o John Hamilton and Judith (Ward) Clare.
The reason for concentrating on Ann Lucinda, Jr. is that the simplest theory is that her mother died when she was born. At least it seems probable that Ann, Sr. died between April 1860 and April 1861. At least it does not seem as if there may have been any divorce.
