Barker's in Kingsclear.

The land grant to Adam Bennett is misleading. Actually it was in Kingsclear Parish. He took Lot 6 (200 acres granted 3AUG1822) and the same day, in a separate grant, Thomas Barker took Lot 5 (300 acres). Lots 2-4 had been granted to John Barker (500 acres) 20JUL1799. Lot 1 was granted at the same time to William Smith. On the other side was another subdivision, with William Smith owning Lot 95 across the road from his Lot 1, and on the other side, John Barker had Lot 94, with Lot 93 belong to Abraham Long, who gave his surname to Long's Creek.

The Barker's are soon connected to the Long's and Smith's.

Lots 1-6 were the typical long, thin lots with the northwestern, short sides, running along the boundary between Kingsclear and Prince William parishes. They were actually in Kingsclear but nudging Prince William.

For me the circumstantial evidence (there is more) is very strong that Thomas Barker was Adam Bennett's brother-in-law with Maria and Thomas amongst the children of John and Mary (Woodbury, Woodburby?) Barker. So far I have them as:

JOHN BARKER b. (Rowley?), MA 9MAR1763, d. ca. 1831?, m. 20JAN1784 MARY WOODBURY (?) (b. ca. 1764, d. Kingsclear Parish, York Co., NB 30APR1841 age 77 years).

John was the son of Thomas and Sarah Barker amongst the pre-Loyalist, New England Planters of Maugerville ca. 1765-6.

What I have on the Barker's so far may be too large to post here. Is there any way to send it directly. For example, you may be able to contact me privately. I am not sure if you have that option.

Thomas.
