I'm hoping that somebody will have the information I'm looking for. I have a photo of my Scottish g'grandmother, taken possibly about 1900, or a bit earlier.
At the bottom, it says "Dunoon, N. B."

We knew she was in Canada in 1919-1920, age 70 yrs, when my grandfather died. She came to Winnipeg, Manitoba, and stayed for a year.
But this photo is of her as a considerably younger woman, she might be less than 50 yrs of age, can't really tell for sure.

The only Dunoon I've been able to locate is in Argyll, Scotland. My g'grandmother lived in Dumbarton all her life.
A cousin of my mother's says she's sure that her grandmother had been in Canada before 1919, but had no details.

I cannot locate a Dunoon, N.B.
Yet that is stamped on the photograph.

Does anyone know if there is, or ever was, a place called Dunoon, N.B.
I would really appreciate any assistance in locating this place.
Have been mystified for years, and thought I would go straight to New Brunswick people, who may have the "key" to this mystery.

If it was, in fact, taken in Canada, we will have to try and discover when, where, and why she was here at that early date. She did have a sister living in Chicago from about the mid 1880s, possibly photo taken while over to visit her.
I've pretty well given up.
But I though one more try.

Thanks in adance.

Sincerely,
Jane Liebzeit
