Esther Angelia Eastman married David Wardrope Wallace in 1883 - were my great-grandparents.

Cathy, I, too have been researching David Eastman who moved from Maine to NB in the 1780's. I have not been able to find out very much about him, but I believe he was a loyalist who moved to Canada. If you find out more about him, please post the information on this forum, and I will do the same. I would like to know where and when he was born and who his wife was, and also the definite reason he moved to Canada. I believe that one of his sons was named Thomas.

David Eastman is mentioned at http://members.shaw.ca/caren.secord/locations/NewBrunswick/G... as a grantee of St. Andrews on Aug. 12, 1784. He is also mentioned at http://members.shaw.ca/caren.secord/locations/NewBrunswick/G... as a Penobscot Association grantee in the summer of 1784. On the list of Penobscot Loyalists at Passamaquoddy dated July 30, 1784, there is one Eastman among the men: David. There is one Eastman among the women: Polly. There are no Eastmans among the children above ten, but there are three Eastmans, listed together, among the children under ten: Robert, Eliz., and Polly. I have a transcription of early records (up to 1821) from All Saints Anglican church in St. Andrews, and it lists the wedding of a Mary Eastman to Levi Handy on Aug. 20, 1799. As Polly is a nickname for Mary, this may well be the Polly listed as a child under ten in 1784. These records also list the marriage of a John Eastman to Eliza Taylor with no date given, and the marriage of a Hanah Eastman to Samuel Callaghan on Dec. 26, 1814. There is one Eastman burial listed as well: an unnamed son of Robert Eastman who was buried on Oct. 24, 1805.

Thank you, Caren, for sharing your information with me. I had the grantee lists, since they are on-line, but did not have the marriages and death information. (It is difficult to research New Brunswick from here in California.) I think they are all pieces of the David-?-Thomas-Follansby-Frederick Eastman puzzle I am trying to put together. I appreciate your help, and the completeness of your information. Many thanks!

Thank you, Caren, for the marriage and death which I have not been able to access online! Like Katherine, I had been able to find only the Grants info but nothing else.
Katherine - are there any Cyrus Eastmans through your line - what dates do you have for Frederick? Do you have any Eastmans that later settled in English Harbour, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland? The NFGenWeb site is excellent for updating their info regularly (I have another family branch of the DeWitt/White tree including a Rebecca Eastman that comes from NF).
I live in Phoenix but thank goodness for the internet!
Thanks all,
Cathy

No, Cathy, I don't have any Cyrus Eastmans that I know about. Frederick's family emigrated to British Colombia and he died there, about 1907 as I recall, without looking it up. I don't know of any of my Eastman family who went to Newfoundland, although I have used the Newfoundland sites to research Furneaux, Elson, Dalton, Sheppard, and Cameron surnames. I agree with you about the excellent Newfoundland information that is on the web. Those Newfoundland folks do an wonderful job of posting data for the rest of us to enjoy, and deserve lots of credit. Sorry I can't help you more.

My my grgrgrandmother was Marietta"Etta" Eastman ( m: John Campbell MacLeod) whose father was Thomas Eastman. The family lived in both Calais, Maine and St. Stephen, NB. I have a long family history including all the names you and others have placed, including Follansby. Would be happy to share. Also have two photographs of Mariett and her husband.

My written history of the Eastman family beings with DAVID a Captain in the British Navy during the Revolutionary War. They first settled in Oct. 1783 in St. Andrews. His wife was Polly and the children were: Robert, Elizabeth and Polly. Two more sons were born in St. Andrews, David Jr and Thomas botn 1790. Thomas married Sara Isabella Maybee in Eastport. Their children were: John, Thomas, Jacob, Folonsbee and Henry.

In 1850 Thomas Eastman and Sarah McCallum were married. Their children were Francis, Ann and Marietta.

I have the entire genealogy if anyone is interested.

There was another David Eatman who came from Pennsylvania and settled near Fredericton and later St. Andrews. He married bigail Dean in 1815.

The name Webster enters the Eastman history in 1774 when Abigail Eastman became second wife of Col. Ebenezer Webster and bor him 5 children, the fourth was Daniel Webster the famous statesman born 1782.

Thank you for answering my post! I would be very interested in exchanging information with you, and I am especially excited about knowing more on David. I did not know that he was in the British Navy. Follansby's son Frederick Eastman and his wife immigrated from New Brunswick with their three children in around 1900. I will e mail you so we can exchange information.
