Addendum to Elias Wright Genealogy:
According to land records, in 1784, there were two adult Elias Wrights:
Elias Wright Sr.*
Elias Wright Jr.*
*(one of these Elias Wrights was born in 1749) Which one?
and a baby Elias Wright b. 1784
I have said all along that land was not granted to babies, so that excludes the one born in 1784.
If Elias Jr. was born in 1749, then we are looking for an Elias Wright Sr. born ca. 1710 to 1729.
If Elias Wright Sr. was born 1749, then we are looking for an Elias Wright Jr. born ca. 1769 and in this case scenario, Elias Jr. would be too young to father Elias Wright born in 1784.
Therefore it is safe to presume that it is:
Elias Wright Sr. born between 1710 and 1729
Elias Wright Jr. born 1749
Elias Wright born 1784.
Now the questions:
Which Elias came on the Camel with Mary and children James, Leah, Esau, and Winnifred. Was it Sr. or Jr.?
Winnifred and Esau were under 10, so that puts them being born between 1773 to 1783.
James and Leah were born between 1763 to 1773.
If Elias Sr. was born in 1710 then the pressumption would be that Sr. was too old to father Winnifred and Esau, so this family has a strong possibility belonging to Elias Jr.
Also taking into account of the tradition of naming children, in that time frame, Elias Sr. was most probably born in 1710 and his third or fourth son would have been named for himself, hence Elias in 1749, which would have other sons ahead of him.
Elias Wright Sr. would probably have died after 9 November 1787, and before 1810. Possibly his death record may have been destroyed in the fire of 1790, so it could narrow his death to between 9 november, 1787 to 1790.
