Re: Craigs of Hartland, also Shaws Sharps, Hannings
Hello from Fredericton. Edward McIsaac, born in 1828, whose father, James, received his original land grant on the Guimac Stream and who later was a lifelong resident and blacksmith in Hartland. The Hartland Oserver was located in the building owned by Edward for many years, right up until year 2000, I think. I have reason to believe that Edward's mother was Jane Craig of Hartland. Edward may also have a sister, Matilda. Edward and Matilda? were born out of wedlock and Edward was raised by his father and eventual wife, Elizabeth Woodburn. Do you have info on this Jane Craig/James McIsaac situation?

Phil, My great, great, great, great grandfather was James Craig (Wellington, Edward, Wellington, Samual, Jacob, James). Do you have any information further back than that? I saw a mention once that his father was Jacob. I also saw some mention that James was a member of DeLancey's Brigrade from Queens County NY, it there anything to that?

Re: Craigs of Hartland, also Shaws Sharps, Hannings
Hi: I am also related from James Craig UEL, Jacob, Stephen, Israel, Roy, Earl. I have been doing research for quite a few years, and yes James Craig, was a private in 2nd battalion DeLancey's as well as a brother Jacob, who was killed in action October 24 1799. Their father Christopher died just a few months later. Newtown Queens County is based on the fact that in 1777 Jacob and Christopher Craig were forced into the rebel militia at Newtown, along with a lot of other citizens. It is believed that they were fairly new arrivals to America possibly from Scotland (not Ireland)

Re: Craigs of Hartland, also Shaws Sharps, Hannings
There are some who say that James had a sister named Mary who was born in New Brunswick that is married William Orser. James is also supposed to have married a woman named Mary who later married William Orser after Mary Craig and James Craig died. Does this fit with your information? Where does one look for information on Delancey's Brigrade?
