I have just been looking for some McIntyre's, and have some suspicions. First, I suspect that 'Otwalog' is actually Otnabog, near Gagetown, Queens Co., NB. Certainly Edward and Mabel (McIntyre) McIntyre were in Hampstead Parish, Queens Co. when their son, Holland Nelson McIntyre, was b. 6FEB1909. This also make me think the both edward and Mabel were of the African descendants in that area, or Black Loyalists. That Edward might be Edward Martin McIntyre, s/o Simeon and Susan (Eatman) McIntyre, b. Gagetown 5AUG1884 also suggests this concept. That Edward Martin and Mabel Ethel (McIntyre) McIntyre had a son, Arlie Edward McIntyre, b. Woodstock, Carleton Co., NB 11OCT1907 confirms it.
Mabel Ethel McIntyre was b. Cumberland Bay, Queens Co., NB 2MAY1886, and was the d/o Howard and Josephine (Haines) McIntyre. Actually, this is where my interest comes in as I am intersted in establishing whether the African Haines' are related to the white, Loyalist Haines. The possibility certainly exists. I have only made some search; and probably have found the most that I can, but a brief form of my notes follows.
Simeon McIntyre was a widower in Hampstead Parish, Queens Co., NB in 1871, age 23. I suspect his parents were Joseph McIntyre (age 77) and Maria (age 70) in the same census. This is by no means certain; as the family was even by then quite large. Simeon's wife was likely the Mary McIntyre who d. DEC1880 age 21 years; so Susan Eatman was likely his 2nd wife. very likely she was Susan Eatman (b. ca. 1855), d/o Thomas (b. ca. 1822) and Caroline (b. ca. 1819) Eatman of Hampstead Parish in 1871.
I cannot find Howard McIntyre in the 1871 census of Hampstead Parish. There was a Howard McIntyre b. ca. 1864, s/o of Charles (b. ca. 1825) and Jane (b. ca. 1833) McIntyre in Waterborough Parish, Queens Co., NB in 1881. This seems to be the same as in 1891, in Hampstead Parish, Howard was b. ca. 1864, with his wife, Josephine, living next to her parents.
Charles, b. ca. 1825 may be (and this is sheer speculation) s/o Charles McIntyre who m. Saint John's Anglican Church, Gagetown, Queens Co., NB 13JAN1808 Mary Wood ('Mary, a malatto girl'.) As I mentioned, the family is large, and speculating further may be futile.
Thomas
the Rev. HENRY (‘HARRY’) HAINS b. NB ca. 1819, m. SARAH _____ (b. NB ca. 1819.)
In 1881, in Hampstead Parish, Queens Co., NB, Henry Hanes, age 73, was a Baptist Minister, b. NB. Hannah was age 41, b. NB, and children were: ‘Josephen’ (11) and Delvina (8.) With them was Clara McIntyre, age 73, b, NB, African and Baptist; possibly Sarah’s mother.
children:
1. HANNAH HAINES b. ca. 1845
2. CHARLOTTE ANN HAINES b. 9FEB1849 (ca. 1849), m. 1st JOHN A. McINTYRE (b. 1850); m. Queens Co., NB 2nd 20OCT1914 CHARLES EVERETT JOHNSON.
It seems the Josephine Hains, b. ca. 1866, in 1871 was Charlotte’s daughter; but she and Delvina are included as Harry and Hannah‘s children for now.
John is likely John McIntyre b. ca. 1851, s/o Wellington (b. ca. 1824) and Martha (b. Ireland ca. 1839) McIntyre, living next door to Harry Haines in the 1871 census of Hampstead Parish, Queens Co., NB. According to baptismal records and a marriage record from St. John’s Anglican Church, Gagetown, Wellington was b. 15APR1819, and bpt. 1838 with several other children of roughly the same age. One of these, Hannah, was the d/o Charles and Mary (Wood) McIntyre; so Welling presumably was their child as well.

In 1881, in Hampstead Parish, John McIntyre was age 32, b. NB, African, a labourer and Baptist. ‘Charlet’ was age 30, b. NB, African and Baptist. Children were: Bess (9), ‘Waltor’ (6), Arthur (4) and ‘Pusilla’ (2.)
John and Charlotte were next to her brother, James, in the 1891 census of Hampstead Parish as:

In 1881 in Hampstead Parish, Queens Co., NB, James Hanes was age 27, b. NB, a labourer, African and Baptist. Anna was age 28, and b. NB. Children were: Alice (7), Ida (5), ‘Jesse’ (daughter, 4) and Alma (2.) With them was a widow, Ann ‘Right’ (b. NB ca. 1797.) This appears to be the Wright Ann F 72 NB FC Baptist African living with John and Lucy A. Hopewell in 1871; and to be Annie’s mother. Ann Wright might be the Anne Woods who m. Gilbert Wright Gagetown, Queens Co., NB 22MAY1812. The Rev. Samuel Clarke usually indicated if persons were of African descent; and does not in this case, but a similar marriage:
McIntire Charles 13 Jan 1808 Gagetown Wood Mary Charles, black man, Mary, a malatto girl
suggests Anne Wood might, for example, be Mary Wood’s sister.
In 1891, in Hampstead Parish, James’ family was:
Haynes James M 38 M NB NB NB B Labour
Haynes Annie F 39 M W NB NB NB B
Haynes Alice F 16 D NB NB NB B

LeBaron might be ‘Barrey’ ‘Hecter’ (b. ca. 1877), lodging with Andrew and ‘Chariyty an’ ‘Hector’, in Gagetown Parish, Queens Co., NB. In Gagetown Parish, in 1881, Andrew Hector was age 62, African, b. NB, a labourer and Church of England. Charity was 62, African, b. NB and Church of England. With them was a child, ‘LeBarian’ Ramsey, b. NB ca. 1876, African and Church of England.
Jessie and LeBaron Hector were in Gagetown Parish, Queens Co., NB in 1901.
children:
331. EVANGELINE (‘EVA’) SERETTA HECTOR b. Gagetown, Queens Co., NB 27NOV1899.

George was celebrated as a banjo player amongst the folk music community. He played with Don Messer (see Isaac S. Haines, below); and I doubt if Messer and George had any idea they might be connected. He left Messer when Don went to PEI to broadcast on the CBC. As George later said, "I was making $22.50 a week just for driving a car and keeping it shined . . . not bad for the hungry thirties. Don Messer wanted me to go to Charlottetown when he made the move to go on CBC but it seemed like too big a risk. I had steady money coming in and I had a family to bring up.†The good-paying job was as chauffeur for one of the newspaper owners in Saint John.
333. RHODA HECTOR b. Gagetown, Queens Co., NB 13OCT1903. (Given as Rhoda Haines, d/o Jessie Haines and LeBaron Hector Haines in birth record.)
34. ALMA G. HAINES b. ca. 1879, d. Queens Co., NB 7NOV1888 age 9 years
35. RAINSFORD HAINES b. 22FEB1884

Olive may be the Clarissa O. Eatman b. 30MAY1893, d/o Major and Hannah ‘Eatmon’ in Hampstead Parish, Queens Co., NB in 1901. Since Hannah was b. JUN1857, she was not Hannah, d/o Harry and Sarah Hains, as might be expected.
When married, Olive is given as Olive Holmes; suggesting a previous marriage.
