I know that most sources say the Rosannah Jonah Briggs was the daughter of John James Jonah and Sarah Reynolds

I question that she was their daughter for the following reasons

1) She was not named as a daughter in John J Jonah"s will of 1830, whereas all his other children were named

Wallace Hale's Early New Brunswick Probate, 1785-1835
Parish of Hillsborough, Westmorland County. Will dated [day blank] October 1830, proved 1 December 1830. Real estate to two sons Joshua and John Nathaniel JONEY. Daughters Lydia WILSON, Sarah OGDON, Jane BOYD, Ann PERIGO, Mary LUTZ and Clarasa BOYD each £25. Daughter Matilda 5 shillings. Children of my daughter Eunice LUTZ, Margaret and Eunice, each £12 10s. Daughter "[Ann's] Child (Jane FORD)" the sum of £12. To my sons "i.e. George Benjamin [Runnels] and Henry" each £25. Son Joshua JONEY one half of my personal estate and one half of my real estate adjoining land owned by John [BRAGDON] on one side and Martin JONEY on the other. Son Joshua JONEY, son-in-law Zacchariah LUTZ and John BEATY executors. Witnesses: John BEATY, John BOWSER, John BEATY Junr.

2) Sarah Reynolds Jonah was living with her daughter Ann Perrigo in 1851 in Moncton [mother, age 87 - born 1764]
Ann Joney, living with Rosannah in 1861 in Moncton [mother in law, age 86 - born 1775) was about 10 years younger. She could not have been a 2nd wife of John James as you suggest, as he died in 1830 and Sarah was still alive in 1851.

3. I have not seen any research that gives a second name of Ann for Sarah Reynolds

This is just speculation, but I wonder if this Ann Joney could be the wife of George Frederick Jonah, brother of Martin and John J.
She was Ann Kay, born abt 1765 in Yorkshire Eng and immigrated to Cumberland NS in 1774 with her parents (Bryan Kay) and siblings
Most researchers say they had 3 children - Jane (married John Chapman) George Benjamin ( Married Margaret Colpitts) and Ephraim (married Ann Leaman) - Likely there were other as yet unidentified children.
same researchers say Ann died 1810 - but maybe she didn't - have seen no documentation

Perhaps Rosannah was their daughter - the 1861 census says her mother was Ann - and she is buried in the same grave as Rosannah and John Briggs. .

I invite comments, opinions and documentation
