Good Morning:
I have gone through my list of Mitchell names and can see no familiar names that you have mentioned. Maybe the Grandview Mitchells were cousins and that would be enough draw to get my William and Alice to move there.

We will keep looking.

Thanks for the information, Wayne. Was your Samuel born in 1866 and the son of Thomas William ? If so, Thomas william was a brother of John Mitchell III ,who was my ancestor. I have been trying to figure out why William (son of John) went to Grandview , Manitoba from Clinton, Ontario. However, if he had relatives there (and maybe a job) , that may be a good incentive.

I am researching William Mitchell and family, all born in Ontario. 1881 census for Mariposa, Victoria County, Ontario, lists William, John Robert, Morton W., William W., George H., Christopher, and Elizabeth. Rebecca Allewell Mitchell, wife and mother died in 1880. William moved to Manitoba but returned to Ontario to marry Jane Plumpton in 1886. The couple lived in Brandon until Jane's death in 1888. She is buried in the Old Deloraine Cemetery. Sons John, Mort and Wesley are recorded on the 1901 census living in Brandon area. I hope to connect with another researcher studying this family.

I am related to Wilbur John Lenihan. Wilbur John Lenihan had more than one marriage. He married my grandmother Ida Lydia Kuethe who was born in 1893. My cousin Lydia Lynn Stevenson tried to get more information. Says in 1916 arrival to Manitoba Emerson. My grandfather, at age 17 was a U.S. sailor and contracted a disease. He left my grandmother when my mom was an infant. He was not well.

I just want to add that my mom, the infant when my grandfather left was a twin but her twin died in utero at 3 months and my mom was born six months later. My mom's twins name would have been named Ethel May had she survived.
